INTRODUCTION TO COMPANY:-

DHARA SOAP AND COSMETICS is come into existence since 2002 and basically it is run by its owners and it is a private company which is indulge in the production of bathing soap, detergent soap and hair oil. It is basically a mass manufacturer of soaps which sells it mainly in Gujarat, maharashatra, rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

EXPLANATION OF THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF SOAPS:-

PRODUCTION PROCESS:- RAW MATERIAL :-

The basic raw materials which are included in this process are herbal items in different glycerin, filler, colours, palms, fragrance, oil etc.Followings are the pictures of palm and perfumes.

MIXTURING :-

The raw materials which are import is mixed up in mixture. The process is generally started with this step. These basic raw materials which we described above are mixed up in first machine called mixture. The output of this first machine is in terms of rigid outputs which are input for second machine.

MILLING :-

The output of first machine which is in terms of rigid output is

entered in this machine which is called ‘Milling’. The output of this machine is made

as a paper. The raw materials which are not fully and properly mixed up in mixture are fully and properly mixed up from this milling machine and output is made as a

paper. This process is also called as a ‘Repeat Mixturing Process’ because of

almost same work (mixing of r.m.) are done in both machines

PLODDERING AND CUTTING :-

The paper product is now entered in further processing for plodding soap.

The main aim of this machine is to get soaps in a slot form. Through product we can

get almost last variety of product but it is not in a proper form. So we have to make

proper cutting and packaging before selling in the market. We get soaps in a slot

form through plodder so to cut in a proper size cutter is used. Through cutter soaps are cut in equal size.

PRESSING :-

It’s a manual process in which cut soaps are given name and shape. We can give different types of name and shape according to requirement. It is that branch of process in which we can give different name of the products i.e. Dhara soap, Ashapura Royal, Royal Sandal Soap etc. and also we can get different size of the product like 25gm, 50gm, 75gm etc.

PACKAGING :-

The last step is packaging. This is the last step of the production process for selling the product in the market. A company is labour intensive so the finished product is packing manually by labourers.

Is no differentiation in product specification from consumer to consumer. Company is engaged in bulk production of different varieties of shop which are offered to large number of customers.Also in this system company is working as per CONTINUOUS FLOW TYPE OF PRODUCTION SYSTEM.

Here entire factory is turned into one machine and raw material is insert from machine and their after it was processed on another machines and finally you can see rolling out products from last machine. Here continuous production of soap is done on mass basis. Here there is good automation is used in different machines. So here mass production at low cost at possible, company is assured about good quality and there is less dependence on workers. As here company is manufacturing standard soaps and some of cosmetics so production of any other product is not possible.

PREPARE A LIST OF MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENTS:- Here entire material handling is done on manual basis in which worker collect the raw material received through transportation, then keep it in the ware house where it is stored, then after when it requires for production worker manually collect the material and put it into machine and internal movement is also done by worker but by using hand carts and end products also moved with the help of manual hand carts.

PLANNING AND DOING MACHINE MAINTENANCE:-

As company is having various machines in various departments company has to do maintenance of various machines otherwise it may be result in stop in production and also other consequences

So here they have adopt periodical preventive approach of machine maintenance. Where after certain period i.e. 1 month they do servicing and maintenance of various machines.

For maintenance of various machines they have given yearly contract to outsider agency who are expertise in this kind of repairing for doing machine servicing and repairing.

In maintenance of machines they are doing oiling, greasing, repairing and also they are doing upgradation of various machines according to innovative technologies in market. They also do servicing of various wires in machines and see if any wire is burned or not working well they will replace that wire with new wire. They also do cleaning of various machines.

This periodical maintenance is planned on such days as holiday when loss of production is very low.

They also do upgradation of machine e.g. they will see if there is any new conveyor belt is require as per their production or not and if it is required it will changed.

And also if some time machines are stop working or give some negative signals like more noise, more power consume or when machines are completely shut down they also do machine repairing and servicing.

Even some time when machine is not able to work anymore they have to go for capital investment to purchase new machine.

So in this company also machine maintenance is prior part without which production is supposed to stop.

QUALITY ASSURANCE & MAINTENANCE AND QUALITY STANDARDS FOR SOAPS BY THE COMPANY:-As this company is not a national or global manufacturer and is local manufacturer they do not have specific quality assurance process for their raw materials and final products. Still they have some quality aspect to make their product unique.

Here quality of raw material they themselves check before purchasing it by visiting supplier’s manufacturing unit or by receiving it by courier.

Quality of final soaps is assured by sending some soaps to the some qualified laboratory. They check quality of their soaps by sending random lot of the soaps to GEETA LABORATRIES which is situated in ahmedabad. And they are

supposed to do this checking continuously after some time and they also have to maintain documents relating to this quality checking.

The owner MR.Ashwin parekh some time himself come and pick up any soap from the finished product and check its quality by testing himself the quality of soaps.

They are also supposed to manufacture the soaps as per TFM(total fatty matter) standard. In which proportion of oil and purity of oil in shop is checked in the soap.

As per this TFM standard proportion of oil equal to- >76% = 1 st grade >65%-<75%= 2 nd grade <65%= 3 rd grade Here they are manufacturing soaps as per 2nd grade in which proportion of oil is >65 but <76.

Packing of the final is also checked and quality of packing is also checked. They are also checking the quantities of packed product. Which is packed in big

boxes. Here boxes are made such that in which upto only some quantities of soaps are packed but more then that is not packed. So if soaps are less than what is written on the boxes then there should be remedial steps are taken for correcting this mistake.

Mixing of various raw material is also many times checked by the worker or supervisior incharge.

Here they also see that the storage of raw material should be suitable to its quality and other aspects.
