Registration of DFMPro for Creo Parametric as an add-in

DFMPro for Creo Parametric is an auxiliary application which needs to be registered with

Creo through a protk.dat file. Manual registration is required if the organizational settings for

    protk.dat file are customized.

Once registered, DFMPro add-in will be visible in the menu bar.

Depending on the available Creo Parametric, following lines need to be added in the

protk.dat file for registering DFMPro with Creo Parametric -

    For Creo 3 name DFMPro startup DLL allow_stop TRUE delay_start FALSE exec_file C:\Program Files\Geometric\DFMPro for Creo Parametric\DFMPro\DFMProeAddinCreo3_0u.dll unicode_encoding TRUE text_dir C:\Program Files\Geometric\DFMPro for Creo Parametric\DFMPro\text end

Highlighted entries will change based on DFMPro installation location.

Normally, protk.dat is installed in the following location inside the Creo Parametric

    installation directory.

    E.g:\...\Creo 3.0\Common Files\M110\text\protk.dat

This will not be true if the protk.dat file is pre-configured to be read from a different

location. Please contact your CAD administrator or DFMPro support in such

    scenarios.

In case DFMPro is not visible in the menu of Creo Parametric after installation, it means that

DFMPro entries were not made in the protk.dat file being read by Creo Parametric.

There are multiple ways in which DFM can be registered.

    Through the installer

In this case, the installer of DFMPro for Creo Parametric will make the required changes in

the protk.dat file present in the text folder of Creo Parametric installation. In case you do not

have required permissions for modifying this file, please contact your CAD administrator.

    mailto:[email protected]

  • 20

    Manually (one time registration)

In this scenario, the lines mentioned above should be manually added in the protk.dat file set

by the CAD administrator for registration.

    Manually (registration for each session)

Once a protk.dat is created on the local computer with the lines mentioned earlier, following

steps need to be performed to load DFMPro Add-in within Creo Parametric.

    Launch a new Creo session

Go to Creo Parametric >>Tool>> Utilities>>Auxiliary Applications

Browse to the protk.dat file available on local computer.

Click on Start to load DFMPro Add-in.

DFMPro menu will be visible in Creo

  • 21

User needs to manually Start DFMPro through Auxiliary Applications for each new session of

Creo Parametric or else protk.dat file needs to be specified in the Config.pro. Please contact

your CAD administrator or DFMPro support.

Creo build copied on local computer

In this scenario, Creo is not installed on the user’s computer by using the standard

installation method, but it is copied to the user’s computer. Following are the steps to be

    followed in this case-

Click Change for the selected Creo version and browse to the location where Creo

    build is copied.

    Example: D:\Copied\PTC\Creo 3.0\Common Files\M110”

Selected location of Creo Parametric folder should contain the text directory which contains

the protk.dat file. Also user should have write access to edit the protk.dat file for DFMPro

    entries.

Click Next to continue the DFMPro installation and proceed as per directed till

    installation is complete.

On launch of Creo Parametric, DFMPro should be visible in the menu. If not, try

manual registration , contact your CAD administrator or contact DFMPro support.
