Dewey Decimal Classification System
4th grade Review
DDC = Dewey Decimal Classification System
The Dewey Decimal Classification System was developed by a man named Melvil Dewey in 1876. The system was developed so that books on the same subjects would be shelved together so that it would be easier and faster to find materials for research. Mr. Dewey also started the first University for training librarians. This system is used to shelve and locate books in libraries all around the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DEWEY.jpg
