History of Samurai

702 AD Taihō Code - ‘samurai’ lower half of aristocracy, bureaucratic civil servants. ‘samurai’ would not have military connotations for almost 2 centuries

between 9th and 12th century, rise of Shogunate and warrior samurai class

1274 AD and 1281 AD - Mongol’s invade Japan, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING...

1584-1645 AD - Miyamoto Musashi, The Book of Five Rings

1876 AD - The samurai lose their profession and the right to wear swords. The samurai position as a special class ended after ~1000 years.
