Deviance Defined…Deviance: Any behaviour or thought which is

considered against the norms for any specific situationNorms: A term used to define normalNormal: A social construction – a set of predictable

responses to any given responses

Why does society not like deviance?Because it is unpredictable! Society likes it when it can predict what will happen

with 100% certainty.What happens if it can’t? What does society do when

it cannot predict behaviour? What does society do to make sure people conform? What are the two kinds of it?
