Development of Feeder Messenger Wire Protective Sheath
Fujikura has developed a feeder messenger wire protective sheath to protect wires to feed electric power to trains during
construction. In the past, two protective sheathes were needed to protect two feeder messenger wires, each of which
consists of a feeder wire and a messenger wire. The new product, however, is capable of protecting two wires at once by
having a near rectangular cross section.
The protective sheath is given a shape of the opening to smoothly accommodate two wires. It also has a double-layer
structure (outside: black polyethylene, inside: yellow polyethylene) to be opened easily at the time of accommodation but
closed tightly after that by the adjustment of material strength. Those features help easy attachment to or detachment from a
feeder messenger wire.
