The ‘SMART’ PrincipleThe ‘SMART’ Principle

A SMART objective is one that is:

Specific – the goal and methods are clearly defined

Measurable – the objectives are measured numerically

Achievable – humanly possible, and the project has all the required resources

Relevant – must be in alighment with the demands of the job and the

requirements of the department Time framed

– completion within deadlines to be agreed upon
