However carefully and accurately the Astrologer may try to calculate the longevity of a native’s life, after knowing about the Doshas in the longevity the native themselves may overcome the death, through Pariharas, their good deeds or with divine grace.
The longevity of a native can fall into the following categories based on their age at death:
1. Balya – up to the age of 8.2. Yogarishta – from the age of 8 to 20.3. Alpayu – or short life – up to the age of 32.4. Madhyayu – or medium life – from the age of
32 to 70 years.5. Poornayu – or long life – from the age of 70
Dictum5. 64th Navamsha – Tula Shukra – Maraka – When a
Graha passes through 64th Navamsha, the Graha gives health ailments, sorrows and difficulties and might cause a fatal event affecting Longevity of the native.
In this horoscope the Marakas are Shubha Grahas, and the 2 Shubha Grahas are at Samasaptama of each other, since Shukra is in Tanu Bhava, he enhances the life span of that Tanu = Deha, further Poorva Punya Adipathi, Deva Guru is aspecting Tanu Bhava, hence Guru also enhances the life span of the Deha.
Dictum8. Shani or lord of 8th house being in conjunction with an
exalted Graha or having in it’s aspect the exalted Graha not being an enemy of Shani – In this horoscope Shani has 3rd aspect on Lord of 8th house Budha who is exalted, hence long life is indicated.
Dictum10. Lord of 10th house is posited in friendly Rashi or in
exaltation –Note: 10th Lord Surya is posited in Mitra Sthana –Kanya Rashi, along with Lord of Kanya Rashi Budha who is exalted, hence long life is indicated.
According to Jaimini system Surya is Atma Karaka, Mangala is Amatya
Karaka, Shani is Bhratru Karaka, Guru is MatruKaraka, Rahu is Pitru Karaka, Budha is Putra Karaka, Shukra is Gnati (Intellect) Karaka, Chandra is Dhara (Spouse) Karaka. The Jeeva is Mithuna Rashi The Deha is Makara Rashi Hence the life span of Mr. Sadashivaiah is 85
We have calculated the Longevity by taking the values of Ayu Chakra of 7 Grahas + Lagna given in Bhinnashtakavarga, but we found that the results are not satisfactory.
To find out the death of male spouse or female spouse, one school of Astrology says:
1. Calculate the Nakshatras from the female spouse to the Nakshatra of the male spouse including Abhijit Nakshatra, then the total should be multiplied by 7 and then divided by 28 – this is called as Vadhu Shesha
2. Calculate the Nakshatras from the male spouse to the Nakshatra of the female spouse including Abhijit Nakshatra, then the total should be multiplied by 7 and then divided by 28 – this is called as Vara Shesha
3. Then if the reminder value of Vara Shesha is more than reminder value of Vadhu Sesha then the death of the female spouse occurs first.
4. Then if the reminder value of Vadhu Shesha is more than reminder value of Vara Sesha then the death of the male spouse occurs first.
Another tool used to determine the longevity of a person is through the Yogas for longevity.
Basically there are 5 types of Yogas when longevity is to be considered.
1. Balarishta – up to the age of 82. Yogarishta – from the age of 8 to 20.3. Alpayu Yoga – up to 32 years of life (Short life).4. Madhayu Yoga – 32 to 70 years (Medium life).5. Purnayu Yoga – above 70 years (Long life). If the life span is more than 100 years it is called as
3. Alpayu Yoga – Malefic Yoga The 3rd lord and Mangala are combust or afflicted by malefics (3rd lord Shani
and Mangala are posited along with each other, but not afflicted either by aspect or conjunction of malefics).
Both Shani and Mangala are on Ashtama Adipathi Budha’s Ashlesha Nakshatra and also the natal Budha has 3rd aspect of Ayush Karaka Shani, hence the Alpayu Yoga gets cancelled and there is extension of longevity.
4. Madhyayu Yoga – Benefic Yoga The Lagna and the Hora Lagna, both occupy a Dwiswabhava Rashi, or one in a
Chara Rashi and the other in Sthira Rashi (Lagna is in Vrischika Rashi –Sthira, Hora Lagna in Kataka Rashi – Chara).
This combination is an indication of a medium life span up to 70 years. (Benefic Shukra is posited in Janma Lagna, and Hora Lagna is aspected by Guru as per Jaimini system, hence even though Madyayu Yoga is indicated, because of the aspect of benefic on Lagna the Madhyayu Yoga gets cancelled).
5. Purnayu Yoga – Benefic Yoga The Lagna and the Chandra, both occupy a Chara Rashi, or one in a
Dwiswabhava Rashi and the other in Sthira Rashi (Lagna is Vrischika Rashi –Sthira, Chandra in Kanya Rashi – Dwiswabhava).
(Chandra is aspected by Guru, Tanu Bhava – Lagna is occupied by benefic Shukra and aspected by benefic Guru, hence this combination is an indication of a long life span up to 100 years).
In Mr. Sadasivaiah’s horoscope there are 71 Yogas which are applicable to his horoscope.
The presence of many benefic Yogas in his chart, (To be precise 53 Benefic Yogas and 18 Malefic Yogas), has yielded good results as well as bad results in his life and also these Yogas made him to live a long life.
Out of these important Yogas like the Purnayu Yoga, the Sahasra Masecha Jeevitham Yoga, the Sharira Soukhya Yoga, etc have conferred him with a long life.
Dictum Pushkaramsha Graha Budha is the lord of Ayushya Sthana
since Budha is on Hasta Nakshatra 2nd Pada, he is posited in Pushakara Navamsha, and since Budha is posited in Chandra Lagna, this gives rise to Bhadraka Maha Purusha Yoga which increases the longevity of the person.
Dictum Pushkaramsha Graha Bhagya Adipathi Chandra is posited in
the 11th house on Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra 3rd Pada is also on Pushakara Navamsha, Chandra rules the Deha of the native, hence supports the Dheergayu.
Dictum Since Panchama Adipathi is in Sapatama Sthana , posited in
Navama Adipathi Nakshatra and Navama Adipathi Chandra is in Labha Sthana aspected by Panchama Adipathi Guru, hence, the native will have more children and during his time he also has yoga to have more grand children too.
Dictum – Dasha – Bhukthi 2. During the period of the Graha in the 8th house. (In Mr.
Sadasivaiah’s horoscope he was running Ava Yogi, malefic, Moksha Karaka Ketu’s Maha Dasha, which is posited in the 8th house which is a Dagdha Rashi, and is on Lord of Venom Rahu’s Aridra Nakshatra).
Dictum – Dasha – Bhukthi 3. Mr. Sadasivaiah had Lord of Venom Rahu’s Bhukthi, which is
posited in the Maraka Sthana 2nd house which is a Dagdha Rashi and has a 7th aspect on the 8th house which is also a Dagdha Rashi. Lord of Venom Rahu is on Ava Yogi, malefic, Moksha Karaka Ketu’s Moola Nakshatra.)
Dictum – Dasha – Bhukthi 5. During the period of the Graha in association with the lord of the
8th house. (In Mr. Sadasivaiah’s horoscope he had SookshmaDasha Bhagya Adipathi, Matru Karaka Chandra. Chandra is posited along with the 8th lord Budha in 11th house which is a Dagdha Rashi).

LONGEVITY THROUGH DASHA BHUKTHI
In Bhava chart Maraka Adipathi, Guru shifts into the 8th house, along with Ava Yogi Ketu.
The longevity of a person can be determined by the Gochara of Grahas, especially the Gochara of Shani, Rahu and Ketu. The chances of death is more during the Sade
Sathi – i.e., Gochara of Shani in the 12th Rashi from Chandra, the Janma Rashi and the 2nd
Rashi from Chandra. Usually the end comes in the 3rd cycle of Sade
A special feature to be seen in this horoscope that Mr. Sadasivaiah, had gone through 3 Sade Sathi cycles and had survived all of them, and now the 4th Sade Sathi had started for him even after that he has survived the first Pada and has passed away only in the 2nd Pada i.e., during Janma Shani.
A special feature to be seen in this horoscope that at the time of birth both Natal Rahu and Natal Ketu were posited in Dhanur Rashi and Mithuna Rashi respectively.
Even now at the time of death too, the transit Rahu is transiting on Natal Rahu and transit Ketu is transiting on Natal Ketu.
Another special feature to be seen in this horoscope is that at the time of birth the Yogi was Mangala and Ava Yogi was Ketu, the yoga was in Brahma Yoga.
Even now at the time of death too, the Yogi was Mangala, the Ava Yogi was Ketu, and even then yoga was Brahma Yoga.
In both the Janma chart and the Mruthyu chart the 22nd Drekkana falls in first Drekkana of Mithuna, hence for both the charts 22nd Drekkana Adipathi is Budha.
At the time of death the 22nd Drekkana Adipathi Budha was posited in Maraka Sthana and was on Janma Chart’s Maraka Adipathi, 64th Navamsha Adipathi Shukra’s Poorvashada Nakshatra.

all the aspects of Ayurdhaya, knowledge of dictums from different schools of Astrology, and a long-term research is required with analysis of hundreds of horoscopes, may throw some light on this difficult subject of Longevity.
As we all are aware, that the Birth and the death of a human being is under the control of the supernatural power, so called “GOD”. An Astrologer is only a medium to analyse the
horoscope with his/her experience, with their knowledge and divine grace of God. I quote: “Astrology as a system will not fail at all,
