(a) items 1, 2 and 3 of the table in clause 5—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 19 September 1985; and

(b) items 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11% 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 of the table in clause 5—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 28 November 1985.

12. Determination 3718, Overseas Rental and Utilities Allowance, as amended by—

/ (a) paragraph 6 (a) of this Determination—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 19 September 1985; and

/


(b) paragraphs 6 (b) and 6 (c) of this Determination—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 28 November 1985.

13. Determination 3724, Child Allowance, as amended by—

(a) items 1 and 3 of the table in clause 7—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 19 September 1985; and

(b) items 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of the table in clause 7—shall apply in relation to service by a member from and including 28 November 1985.

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

DETERMINATION HO. 7 4 OF 1985

ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE MINISTER FOR DEFENCE

UNDER SECTION 58B OF THE DEFENCE ACT 1903

Section 58B of the Defence Act 1903 allows the Minister to make

determinations on conditions of service for members of the Defence Force.

Determinations 3713, 3714, 3715, 3716, 3718 and 3724 provide

respectively for the payment of:

a- Intermediate Term Duty Living Allowance;

b. Overseas Living Out Allowance;

c Overseas Living In Allowance;

d. Supplementary Living Allowance;

e. Overseas Rental and Utilities Allowance; and

f. Child Allowance,

to members oE the Defence Force who are serving on duty overseas to enable

them to maintain a standard of living comparable to their standard in

Australia by reimbursing the additional costs incurred because of that

service overseas.

This determination amends the rates of these allowances which are

payable to. members serving on duty in the countries mentioned in the

following paragraphs.

Clauses 1 and 8 of this determination amend Determination 3713,

Intermediate Term Duty Living Allowance:

a. by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985, the rates

payable to members serving in Britain; and

b. by decreasing, with effect 28 November 1985, the rates

payable to members serving in Canada or the United States of

America.

Clauses 2, 3 and 9 of this determination amend Determination

3714, Overseas Living Out Allowance:

a. by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985/ the rates

payable to members serving in Britain or Egypt; and


payable to members serving in Beirut, Canada, Hong Kong,

Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Syria, Western Samoa or the

United States of America.


Overseas Living In Allowance:

a. by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985, the rates


b- by decreasing, with effect 28 November 1985, the rates

payable to members serving in Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia or

the United States of America.


Supplementary Living Allowance:

a- by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985. the rates



payable to members serving in Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia,

Malaysia, Western Samoa or the United Huates of America.


Overseas Rental and Utilities Allowance:

a. by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985, some of the

rent ceilings which apply to members serving with the United

Nations in Egypt; and

b- by decreasing, with effect 28 November 1985, some of the

rent ceilings which apply to members serving with the United

Nations in Israel or Syria.

a- by increasing, with effect 19 September 1985, the rates

payable to members serving in Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong,
