Rolling Out The Coral Carpet

Hitting it Straighter & LongerDoug Reed, PGA, VP of Golf & Club Operations, Coral Hospitality

Do yourself and your swing a big favor the next time you go out and play golf. Forget about starting your downswing

with the turn. Golfers who focus on turning on the downswing create a very steep angle of attack on impact, and thus

the over-the-top move. When the player uses a one piece take away to the top of his swing and starts his down swing in

one piece turning his body (shoulders, hips or both) towards the target prior to moving the club with his hands and

arms, the player is guaranteeing himself a steep angle of approach or an over-the-top move causing an out-to-in swing,

which results in a pulled or sliced golf shot. Better golfers start their downswing by allowing the club to swing down

into the slot from the inside. They do this by not allowing the body to turn towards the target until the club falls or swings into the slot.

For a player who really struggled with the over-the-top move, that feeling may require a conscious effort to keep the body, shoulders and

hips turned away from the target until the hands and the arms have swung down past the hips. That feeling will be that the club actually

swings past the body and pulls the body into its finish. Releasing the club from the top or swinging the arms and club down with the body

staying turned away from the target will allow the club to come from an inside path on a shallower angle of attack, which produces higher

and straighter shots. Please don’t confuse releasing the club from the top with casting. Casting is done with the body turning before the club

is actually released. So the faster you can drop or swing the club into the slot, the more the club will come from the inside and create more

solid hits and greater club head speed. This is what creates straighter and longer shots.

Doug brings over 20 years of golf management and teaching expertise to Coral Hospitality’s management team. He set a world record of a 339-yard drive using the “Controller Driving Iron” during a nationally televised infomercial. One of America’s leading instructors, Doug has worked with more than 70 pro tour players, including Bruce Fleisher, J.C. Snead and Jerry Heard. He has won two professional tournament championships: the Freeport Open and the Rolex Invitational.

Popular throughout the Northeast U.S. and Florida, this delectable dish is a refreshing adventure in flavor sure to please the palette. A sweet finish are the candied nuts, and only you need to know how easy they are to make!

JuMBo LuMp CRaB CaKeS 1 can jumbo lump crab ½ cup mayonnaise 1 tbl Dijon mustard 1 lemon 1 tsp chopped chives 1 cup Japanese Bread crumbs Salt and pepper to taste

Combine ingredients in stainless steel bowl(gently fold, do not break up crabmeat). Add bread crumbs until mixture can be formed. Form 5- 4 oz crab cakes or (10-2 oz.) Sauté crab cakes in olive oil and whole butter medium heat.

Candied Nuts 1 pound Pecans (Or nuts of your choice) 1/8 cup egg whites ½ cup granulated sugar 1 tbsp ground cinnamon ¼ tsp ground gingerPinch salt

Mix Nuts and Egg Whites into a bowl toss with sugar and cinnamon and rest of spices, just mix enough to cover. Spread out onto a sheet pan and bake at 350˚F until golden brown.

To sauté2 tbl olive oil2 tbl butter
