skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and even dog sledding, winter is the best time to go to Big Sky. The official
ski season begins on Thanksgiving and lasts through mid-April.
For those who want to experience Big Sky beyond the slopes, a summer or fall visit will afford the best opportunities for hiking,
biking, fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and golfing. There are also several concerts and festivals in Big Sky and
nearby Bozeman in the warmer months. Read on for some ideas:
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
One of the biggest nearby attractions when you're staying in a Big Sky luxury
resort or vacation rental is Yellowstone, the world's first national park. The
park's western entrance is less than an hour away and offers endless sight-
seeing, recreation, and wildlife viewing opportunities year-round.
WATER ACTIVITIES
Depending on what time of year you're visiting Big Sky, there are a number
of ways to enjoy its many lakes and rivers. Try ice fishing in winter or spring,
fly-fish year-round, and go kayaking or whitewater rafting on the Gallatin
River in the summer and early fall.
ENJOY THE TRAILS
No matter what season you visit Big Sky, there are miles upon miles of trails
for everything from hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding to snow-
shoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Many Big Sky luxury home
rentals have trail access just outside their doors.
BOZEMAN
