In this phase, you will plan the implementation of the DESSA System for your district or organization. Then, you will learn how to set up the DESSA System. It is best to involve the district or organization’s Student Information System (SIS) or Data Manager to discuss rostering needs.
Title Session A: Planning Your Program Description Meet with your Client Success Specialist to create a plan for using the DESSA System. Discussion
points include determining a rating timeline, identifying individuals responsible for rostering, identifying targeted program outcomes, coordinating upcoming training sessions, and more.

Title Session B: Prepping Your System Description Our Client Success Team will show you how to set up and manage the DESSA System from a
technical perspective. Topics include how to input program information into the DESSA System, schedule DESSA ratings, generate reports, and access Growth Strategies. (If the district or organization has purchased integration with data systems, we may schedule an additional Data System Integration Kickoff meeting.)

Phase II: Staff Training and First Ratings
This phase begins with training sessions for the district or organization’s DESSA Team and raters. The DESSA Team can comprise of the district/organization’s SEL leadership, building administrators, and any staff members who will be supporting educators through the implementation of the DESSA System. Raters will include classroom or out-of-school-time educators who work directly with students and who will be submitting DESSA ratings for students. This phase will conclude with collecting DESSA ratings in the first rating period.
Title Session C: DESSA Team Training #1: Introduction to the DESSA System Description Our DESSA Trainer will prepare the district/organization’s SEL Leadership Team for the
implementation of the DESSA assessment and review online resources available in the system for the district or organization.

This phase will follow the first rating period. It will include follow-up training sessions for the DESSA Team and raters to provide guidance with reviewing DESSA data and selecting resources to support students.
Title Session E: DESSA Team Training #2: Using Data to Drive Instruction Description Our DESSA Trainer will share how SEL Leadership can support their school or organization in
analyzing and using DESSA data after the first rating period. There will also be a deeper look at the resources that will support students’ social-emotional growth.

In this phase, we will meet with you to review the district or organization’s program outcomes as well as discuss your next steps for the DESSA System.
Title Session G: Data Review: Program Year Reflection Description Meet with your Client Success Specialist and your Partnership Manager to review your program’s
DESSA data, evaluate the impact (outcomes) of your SEL program, identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement, and help develop a plan to continue using the DESSA System.

1. Program Leader(s): The primary contact or small team who is overseeing the entire SEL program and DESSA System 2. Student Information System/ Data Manager(s): The individual or small technical team who will help in importing and managing
program information, including student rosters and staff information 3. DESSA Team: The district/program’s SEL leadership, including individuals serving in a leadership position in the implementation of
the DESSA System; this team should support raters through the implementation of the DESSA System 4. Raters: The educators who are working directly with students and completing the DESSA rating forms
