But a twist of fate brought him under the wing of promi- nent local furniture designer Nathan Yong, who is coinci- dentally an alumnus of Temasek Polytech- nic as well. And as they say, the rest is history. ZiN is the Dutch word for sense. e 22-year-old Chiam considers design in the modern world to be akin to a conversation between people and products. us, common sense is of utmost importance and is oſten the foundation of good design. Kevin Chiam, a graduate of Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Design, never dreamed that he would pursue a path in furniture design.
