1 Design Guide Your Dream … Our Passion Our log home passion is to be sure you have achieved your log home dream. This begins with your design. As you set out to design your dream log home, you may already have a plan / layout in mind or a particular ‘look’ in mind…sometimes both. Regardless of whether or not you are starting with design in hand or starting with basic concepts, ideas etc., you should consider using a design guide / checklist to be sure you have made as many, if not all, the pertinent design considerations at the forefront of this process. Timberhaven Log Homes provides FREE custom design consultation. As we help our customers work through the processes of designing their home, we start with a basic series of questions to help determine direction and set the stage for reviewing the design guide / checklist. The most important question is…. How do you want to ‘live’ in this home? The answer to the remaining questions will be in direct correlation to this core question. For example: Is this going to be your primary home or secondary home? What ‘life’ stage are you planning for….young family, empty nester, retirement, etc.? o If retirement, do additional considerations need to be made for wider hallways, door openings, etc., as a ‘just in case’ you would need handicap access / maneuverability? What amenities do you need included in your new home vs. what amenities do you want? What are your surroundings / landscape / environment? o Does the landscape lend itself well to a walkout basement? o Do you need a wall of glass to take in a view? This is only a brief list of the type questions that should be considered in relation to “How you want to ‘live’ in your home” to get you started. Seeking out photos, plan snapshots, etc. in conjunction with the following ‘design’ guide can also lend itself well to ensuring the design outcome you desire. Design Guide A. BASICS 1. Design Guide

Your Dream … Our Passion

Our log home passion is to be sure you have achieved your log home dream. This begins with your design.

As you set out to design your dream log home, you may already have a plan / layout in mind or a particular ‘look’

in mind…sometimes both. Regardless of whether or not you are starting with design in hand or starting with basic

concepts, ideas etc., you should consider using a design guide / checklist to be sure you have made as many, if not

all, the pertinent design considerations at the forefront of this process.

Timberhaven Log Homes provides FREE custom design consultation. As we help our customers work through the

processes of designing their home, we start with a basic series of questions to help determine direction and set the

stage for reviewing the design guide / checklist. The most important question is…. How do you want to ‘live’ in this

home? The answer to the remaining questions will be in direct correlation to this core question. For example:

Is this going to be your primary home or secondary home?

What ‘life’ stage are you planning for….young family, empty nester, retirement, etc.?

o If retirement, do additional considerations need to be made for wider hallways, door openings,

etc., as a ‘just in case’ you would need handi‐cap access / maneuverability?

What amenities do you need included in your new home vs. what amenities do you want?

What are your surroundings / landscape / environment?

o Does the landscape lend itself well to a walkout basement?

o Do you need a wall of glass to take in a view?

This is only a brief list of the type questions that should be considered in relation to “How you want to ‘live’ in your

home” to get you started. Seeking out photos, plan snapshots, etc. in conjunction with the following ‘design’ guide

can also lend itself well to ensuring the design outcome you desire.
