100-P01 GENERAL: The scope of this project consists of Full Depth Reclamation for approximately 6.58 miles.
202-P01 EXISTING SIGNS: Salvage the existing speed limit and weight limit signs. Stack the
signs neatly near the right of way line for retrieval by the Owner. 203-P01 DISCRETIONARY SUBCUT: If the Engineer determines that an area of the roadway
is unstable, that area shall be subcut according to the discretionary subcut detail. 1500 LF of discretionary Subcut has been added to the quantities to be used at the
discretion of the Engineer. For purposes of estimating quantities, it has been assumed there will be (5) separate 300 LF discretionary subcut sections.
Type R1 material will be placed under the Class 5 aggregate with a width of 40 LF. 203-P02 TOPSOIL: Top soil should be removed from all areas to be reclaimed. After
Reclamation is complete, place topsoil against the reclaimed slough. Plan Quantity will be used as the measurement for payment. 302-P01 AGGREGATE SURFACE COURSE CL13: Aggregate Surface Course CL 13 shall be
placed after full depth reclamation and surface is shaped to 4% normal crown. Aggregate Surface Course CL 13 shall have a Plasticity Index (PI) ranging from 4 to
9 and meet the requirements of Section 816.02, “Miscellaneous Aggregates”. The PI is to be determined in accordance with test ND T90, “Determining the Plastic
Limit and Plasticity Index”. A contract adjustment will be administered if the PI is not within the specified range.
The adjustments will be calculated as follows: PI Adjustment Factor = 5 percent x (Average of 3 Samples – Allowable PI) If the PI is determined to be greater than 12, the material will be rejected. 306-P01 FULL DEPTH RECLEMATION: The entire asphalt surface including sloughs shall be
blended without leaving any slivers of unblended material. Full Depth Reclamation will be paid at plan quantity.
Equipment used in the Full Depth Reclamation shall be able to process 5” - 7” asphalt
depth and 2” - 4” base section depth in a single pass. The Contractor shall reclaim approach asphalt, as marked by the Engineer, during
the Full Depth Reclamation and incorporate the material into the roadway and approach. Payment for doing this will be by plan quantity for Full Depth Reclamation. An additional 1,159 SY of Full Depth Reclamation has been added to the plan quantity for approach reclamation.
After the full depth reclamation and prior to the placement of the Aggregate Surface
Course CL 13, proof-roll both lanes of the entire project length with a fully loaded tandem axle dump truck with a minimum gross weight of 25 tons. No rutting greater than 1.5 inches, and no "pumping" of the soil behind the loaded truck is allowed. Pumping is defined as the mixing of the reclaimed material with the subgrade soils.
704-P01 TRAFFIC CONTROL: The traffic control devices list has been developed using the
following layouts on the Standard Drawing for traffic control:
1. Standards D-704-7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, & 50 are applicable. 2. Standard D-704-15, Type A for traffic control of two way traffic with a pilot car for
full depth reclamation and surface aggregate placement. 3. Standard D-704-19, Type F for traffic control at subcuts areas. 4. Standard D-704-20, use for Terminal Layout. 5. Standard D-704-22, Type K for trucks entering. 6. Standard D-704-26 Type EE, FF and GG to be installed where conditions exist. 7. Standard D-704-30, to be installed where conditions exist.
704-P02 TRAFFIC CONTROL: At the end of each day’s operations, the 24 foot wide traveled
way shall be clear of obstructions and not have a drop off in excess of 2 inches. A 10 foot wide clear zone on each side of the traveled way shall be clear of obstacles and have a slope no steeper than 4:1 or steeper than the existing in-slope.
920-P01 DUST PALLIATIVE MATERIAL: Water used in the solution shall be free of
contaminants that could adversely affect either field material performance or the environment.
Furnish either magnesium chloride or calcium chloride in a liquid state. Submit a
Certificate of Compliance that meets the requirements of Section 106.01.C, before placing any solution on the roadway.
Magnesium Chloride solutions shall contain 30 percent or more magnesium chloride
by weight, less than 1 percent calcium chloride by weight, and less than 1 percent sodium chloride by weight.
Calcium Chloride solutions shall contain 35 percent or more calcium chloride by
weight, less than 1 percent magnesium chloride by weight, and less than 1 percent sodium chloride by weight.

920-P01 (Continued) The Engineer will test the material on site with a hydrometer. Apply chemicals in two (2) separate applications of equal rate. Chemicals shall not
be applied during periods of rain, nor if rain is expected within 12 hours of application, nor where the surface to be sprayed is in a saturated condition.
After shaping and compacting the surface to be treated, apply a sufficient amount of
water to penetrate at least 2 inches. After this pre-wetting and while the surface is still moist but not muddy, apply the first application of the chemical uniformly over that surface at the following rate: 0.25 gallons/square yard. After the first application of the material has soaked into the surface, apply the second application of the chemical uniformly over the surface at the following rate: 0.25 gallons/square yard. The estimate of quantities is based off 0.50 gallons/square yard applied 29.3 feet wide.
The unit price for each gallon of applicable solution will be payment in full for
supplying, delivering, and applying chemical on the road and for performing all operations necessary or incidental thereto. Pre-wetting will be paid for at the unit price bid for “Water”.
The chemical distributor shall be capable of maintaining a constant application rate
regardless of the speed the distributor is traveling and shall be provided with the following minimum equipment:
(1) A pump capable of developing a constant uniform pressure in the spray bar. (2) A rear or center mounted spray bar having a positive and instant shut off, which
can be set parallel to the surface. (3) Spray bar nozzles, which shall ensure uniform fan shaped spray without
atomization, shall all be of the same manufacturers and sizes. (4) A strainer installed in the feed system to prevent clogging of the spray bar and
nozzles. (5) A measuring devise such as a transparent standpipe shall be located at the front
or the rear of the tank and be accurately graduated in increments so as to be able to verify quantities delivered and distributed. Provision shall be made to allow the Engineer to verify the accuracy.
(6) The spray monitor and controller shall be calibrated for the type of material being applied and capable of determining variable application rate.
