Program VideoWhy Should I Choose This Program?
• Are you Interested in designing AND building?• Do you have a wide range of interest that covers:
• Mechanical systems, Electronics, Computer systems/networking, and Automation
• OR maybe you can’t decide which areas you are most interested in, and want functional knowledge in all
• You learn best in a small class size where you get to know your classmates and your instructors
• Planning and studying Production• Using a real project
• Biathlon target• Model rocket launch controller• Engine Cradle
Design Projects - Industry Project
• Students must find an industry partner to solve a technical problem
• Example: Opener for corn plantingmachine
Presentation Skills
• Learn in front of a small group of your friends• Develop Presentation Skills to advance your career.

Comparison - other Sask Polytech Programs• Innovative Manufacturing has:
• More welding and CNC machining• No engineering design courses, none of our specialty areas
• Mechanical Engineering Technology• More thermodynamics, alternative energy, HVAC, industrial
instrumentation• No advanced manufacturing, mechatronics stream, systems and
networking• Electronic Systems Engineering Technology
• More electrical, electronics design, electronic systems• No mechanical design, CNC/advanced manufacturing
Faculty
• Very approachable• Good practical industrial experience prior
to becoming instructors• Offices are just down the hall• We have our own computer technical
support
Classmates
• Your new family - 8 hours per day, 200 days per year, for 2 years• 24 student intake – All classes, same students, same home room• Often turn into lifelong friends
DAY IN THE LIFE AS A STUDENT• Characteristics of our successful students
• Willing to work hard, but have fun doing it• Interested in engineering (solid background in physics
and math)• Interested in design and building
• In-Class Time on Campus• 8AM to 4PM daily
• Homework• At least a couple of hours per evening and a day on the
weekend (varies per student – some will be more and some will be less)
