Who can attend: All boys and girls entering grades 1-12 – please see each camp for specific information. Campers do not need to be Camp Fire members.

Hours: Day Camp program activities occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Extended care is offered at no additional cost (depending on the camp) beginning at 6:30 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m.

Payment Methods: Camp Fire accepts cash, check, and credit card (not American Express). Our programs also qualify for most flex spending accounts.

Lunch and Snacks: Campers attending Day Camp programs bring a sack lunch including a drink each day. Morning and afternoon snack will be provided. At Hantesa Day Camp and Equestrian Day Camp, lunch and a morning snack are provided; afternoon snack may be purchased at the canteen. Meals will be provided for those attending Resident Camp.

Day Camp T-shirts: Each Canwita Day camper will receive one free Camp Fire T-shirt. They are required to wear this shirt on all major field trips.

Registration Deadline: Sessions are filled on a first come basis. Registrations are due at least one week prior to the session your camper is attending.

Payment Information & Changing Weeks: The Camp Fire Day Camp weekly fees are listed on the following pages; you only pay for the weeks you want! A $20 deposit for each day camp week or $100 for each overnight camp session is required with registration. The balance of the fee is due the Wednesday prior to the week attending. Fees may be paid with cash, a major credit card, or a check payable to Camp Fire. An administrative fee of $10 per child will be added if you register with fewer than three business days’ notice. Fees are transferable to a different session, if there are openings and notice is given by the Wednesday preceding the session. Deposits are not refundable.

Scholarships: A limited amount of “campership” funding is available on a first come, first served basis. Visit our website to download the form or contact the Camp Fire Service Center for more information. This form must be submitted to the Camp Fire office with the necessary documentation (found on the application) as well as program registration before May 16. Forms received after this date are not guaranteed funding.

June 9-13 Start with a BANG!- Spend the week practicing your aim with ar-chery, riflery, paintballing, and more! (Optional $30 Paintball fee).

June 16-20 Rocks & Ropes- Take a ‘leap of faith’ on the high ropes course and join us as we boulder, rappel, and take a rock climbing field trip!

June 23-27 Outrageous All Stars- Our days will be filled this week with an extreme obstacle course, mudsliding, and frisbee golf.

June 30-July 3* Super Splash Beach Bash- Hit the beach with all your favorite water activities; canoe, swim, and grill out. Don’t forget the water balloons and slip ‘n’ slide!

July 7-11 Epic Summer Battles- Challenge yourself, your fellow campers and your counselors to archery, laser tag, paintballing, and more! (Optional $30 Paintball fee).

July 14-18 Extreme Team- There will never be a dull moment when we work as an extreme team to gear up for a trip to Sky Zone indoor tram-poline park!

July 21-25 Wild Rides- Take a week to experience the wildest rides around! Join in the games as well as a trip to Adventureland. ($15 addition-al Adventureland fee).

July 28-August 1 Water Wipeout- Enjoy a week of water challenges and an amaz-ing trip to Lost Island waterpark (Additional $15 waterpark fee).

August 4-8 Camper Vs. Wild- Experience the best of the outdoors orienteer-ing and geocaching at Ledges State Park!

August 11-15 Best of the Best- Save the best for last with a collection of our favorite summer activities action packed into one final outrageous week! (Optional $30 Paintball fee).

June 9-13 All About Camp - Do you day camp? This week you’ll get to know all about Camp Discovery! From games to swimming to crafts.

June 16-20 Animal Planet- With a trip to the zoo, we’ll be learning all about the big and small of the animal kingdom.

June 23-27 Wild Wild West- Get ready for a hoe-down throw down as we take a trip to Hantesa to explore in the great outdoors!

June 30-July 3* Red, White, and Blue - Every day at Camp is a party, but this week will be focused on celebrating the Red, White, and Blue!

July 7-11 Beat the Heat- There’s no better way to beat the summer heat than a refreshing swim at an aquatic center and playing water games in the backyard.

July 14-18 The Science of Fun- A trip to the Science Center will get us ready to try some experiments of our own at camp!

July 21-25 Iowa Adventures- Don’t miss out on one of our most popular weeks as we explore all that Iowa has to offer, including a trip to Adventureland ($15 additional Adventureland fee).

July 28-August 1 Myths, Movies, and Magic- From Harry Potter to Avatar, we’ll be having fun with our imaginations this week making fantasy worlds at our Camp Site!

August 4-8 Olympic Games- This is sure to include some wacky and friendly competition. Pick up your torch and join a winning team!

August 11-15 Diary of a Camping Kid- Thinking back to all the fun we’ve had this summer, we’ll be recreating the great times we’ve shared!

Hunger Games: Explore Hantesa in a whole new way. Complete obstacle courses, face fun challenges, work as a team, and move to the next level. Learn how to be a Hantesa victor!

Splish Splash: Water, water everywhere! Escape the heat with slip-and-slides, water relays, water balloon games, watercolor painting, and so much more during this fun week.

Red, White, and Hantesa: Celebrate Independence Day all week at Camp Hantesa with exciting USA themed crafts and activities.

Time Warp: Join us as Hantesa travels back in time to a new era every day. Attend a 50’s sock hop, experience pioneer living, show off your best hippie costume, and make a time capsule.

Across the Globe: Come learn about cultures from around the world. We will play games, learn fun facts, and eat food from all points on the map.

July 21-25**Opt. $30 Overnight

Holiday Hoopla: Celebrate winter in July, show off your Halloween cos-tume, go on an egg hunt, find four leaf clovers, or invent a new Hantesa holiday!

July 28-August 1**Opt. $20 Pony Ride

Attack of the Arts: Try art activities that you’ve never tried before. Pottery, bead making, cooking, sewing, tie dye, and more! Traditional activities will still be incorporated into this week.

Call of the Wild: Explore nature, cook snacks at a campfire, take a trip to the lake, hike through Ledges. It’s going to be a wild adventure!

August 11-15**Opt. $20 Pony Ride

Express Yourself: Each camper will have the opportunity to pick the fun they will have each day. Sign up for activities based on your interests and hobbies!

August 18-20 Best of the Best: Take a trip back through the summer and revisit all of our favorite camp activities and themes.

equestrian day camp

Each day, campers will spend the morning at the barn and the afternoon swimming at camp. Campers will learn horse science, English riding, and barn maintenance. Each camper will be as-signed a horse and will be instructed based on their riding experi-ence. Beginners to advanced riders welcome!Riding will depend on day to day weather conditions. Staff re-serve the right to remove a rider from the horse if either is in dan-ger. Camp Hantesa provides trained horses and staff for all riding programs.**In order to participate, ALL campers are required to wear long pants, boots, and helmets. Helmets are provided by Camp Hantesa. Boots are available on a limited basis.**
