Both programs are funded by the US Department of Labor, under a sub-grant through the (NCOA) National Council on Aging. Founded in 1889, the Felton Institute, also known as (FSA) or Family Service Agency of San Francisco has been providing human and mental health services, uninterrupted for 125 years. Felton remains one of the largest nonprofit, nonsectarian providers of social services in San Francisco.The (SCSEP) Senior Community Service Employment Program provides workforce training for older adults, age 55 and older in community service organizations and government departments, leading to permanent job placements, including jobs in the private sector. The (ESIC) Economic Security Initiative Center for Older Adults is focused on increasing economic security for older adults through economic security casework and service coordination, community forums, and national and local advocacy campaigns like the SF/Marin Food Bank, and programs like the CalFresh, "Better Food for Better Living" initiative. Derek has been married to Anitra (Brookter) Toliver for over 34 years, and they have three adult daughters.The oldest Alana, graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, and Occidental College; Shannon graduated from Thurgood Marshall Academic HS and the University of California Riverside; and Simone, the youngest graduated from SOTA School of the Arts High School, City College of San Francisco, and San Francisco State University. All of Derek and Anitra's daughters were educated in San Francisco public & private schools. Derek graduated from Woodrow Wilson HS in San Francisco. He earned his BA Degree in Economics from Stanford University, & his Six Sigma Greenbelt Certificate of Achievement as a graduate student at Villanova University. In his professional sales career he has trained surgeons & surgical teams during "live surgical cases" to use the Conmed Argon Beam Coagulator, one of the most advanced electrosurgical devices in the world. He was the Founder, CEO, & Managing Director of Go2Strategy, LLC, the parent organization of the former Go2Strategy Health & Food Solutions. He has 38+ years of Corporate Training. Derek has founded his own charitible social service organizations under the auspices of his STEM2HEArts, STEM2Sports, & STEM2Work Programs. These programs are bringing "free" hands-on, "employer-directed learning" to youth from limited income families, residing in public housing, homeless shelters, Foster Care, group homes, & juvenile detention centers. STEM2HEArts stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Healthcare, Education, & Arts.
