Theme

Using “ dependable” as the core of the concept, the format uses a mix of entertainment and non fiction to deliver the message in a most evocative and persistent way.

The format will rely on the candid camera approach to extract maximum mileage from the program, rather than use the more easy solution of a canned show that will allow easy edits and an announcer.

Current trend indicative of viewer fatigue during canned shows & higher viewer involvement in reality/candid camera based programming

Candid camera technique also lends itself to higher viewer interactivity

This program will use the strength of the idea and spin it beyond a narration.

The heart of the big idea is in the virtually unseen , yet very very strong relationship between kids and their fathers. This program will use every hook to highlight the delicate connection between the two.

In an everyday family , it is the mother who is the primary caregiver. But it is the father who is the enabler.

This format will explore the true depth of the rapport between the two. And quite literally capture the non umbilical bond that exists , whilst simultaneously highlighting the “ dependable “ qualities of the father.

“My Dependable Dad” is a first time attempt to send off a child and his father to a new, unknown place where they will live for 30 days only with each other

Given the fact that all kids are usually looked after by their mothers from the time they are born , and the father’s role is usually relegated to weekends and fun things, it will be a whole new world for the viewers and participants to live through.

be in the playout between kid and dad or dad vs dad or kid and dad vs kid and dad.

What will underpin the whole show will be the live, unrelenting lessons learnt for the participant as well as the viewer, day after day.

Built in hurdles and tests will showcase the “dependable” factor of each parent who will be in the final list.

Dependability will be gauged on several parameters: every day, all the time. There will be no let ups.

Each episode will be designed to throw up challenges that will capture one or more of these characteristics in vivid ways.

Parameters will include the obvious physical quotient, but will have built in truthmeters like, how well will the dad cope , physically if he has to wake up several times a night for a child with a tummy ache , and still be up early the next day to supervise the rest of the day

Emotional quotient too. Does he handle emotions in a balanced way and help the child learn as he/ she goes along? Is the dad able to let the child lean when needed and walk away when needed?

Financial quotient: all kids know dad pays for most things. But given a situation where all dad have only a fixed amount for the month, then let’s watch what dad does to make the money go further.

Will he pamper the child or will he teach life’s lessons about value for money ?

And of course the spiritual quotient. This has nothing to do with religion , but everything to do with human values.

Week 1: [3 day week]

Episode 1 and 2 Journey and settling down : 2 days ie:

2 episodes Sunday: 3rd day: Bumper episode

Sunday 3rd day: Viewers to see participants as they come in, settle down. Task given to them almost as they enter, no cook, figure out dinner.

Hit them again with the 5 day whopper: to be completed by next Friday

1st set will get eliminated at end of 2nd week

WEEK 2

Episode 1 ; cutaways . Also big task Episode 2 : all this plus no water[or

any kind of spanner in the wheel.] Episode 3: elimination and party for

the survivors. Rejoicing. Task for next week : prepare your kid for inter family sports meet.

WEEK 3 Episode 1 :recap of task plus “ dacait”

raid live on the set !!people held hostage while mothers and viewers watch in horror. Who will be hurt, who will hide ?

Episode 2: continue task for week, plus the stress of “dacait” raid. Will anyone actually think of the inter family sport ?

People will be held captive for the 3 days of the “ week”.

Cutaways of the mom’s reactions, viewer reaction etc.

Episode 3: “dacait” situation resolved. Pullouts of tense moments or lighthearted ones.

Plus elimination of one more set.

WEEK 4

This week will have a series of tasks everyday . Or it will become too predictable.

Episode1:Each dad and kid to put up any “Indian” performance .A roomfull of props will be available to all to choose on location.

WEEK 4 CONTD;

Episode 2: Take the remaining 3 sets of people into the jungle and “ lose “ them !

Blindfold them, take them not too far away, and naturally, they will be watched for safety etc. “Discreet”eye will track them .Losers will be rescued at the end of the day.

WEEK 4 CONTD;

Final elimination. Moms visit unexpectedly. Gather all participants for the

farewell/ celebration bonfire.
