Pediatric Medical Education on 31st August-1st September held at Mangalore, India by all National
Experts on pediatric education.

Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) -
The only medical college in the entire state of Maharashtra to have this NRC ( State of the
art facility for the treatment of severe Protein Energy Malnutrition)
The department has trained more than 300 medical officers and health worker on
management of Severe and Mild Acute Malnutrition in NRC.
The NRC is without sponsorship or aid from UNICEF or govt. and totally done on
mobilization of donation given by St. Paul’s Church, Camp, and Pune.
Highlights of Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre-
- Round the clock availability of a trained physician and Staff Nurse
- For detailed Anthropometry- Infantometer, Stadiometer and Electronic weighing Scale
are
available. Various standard charts and booklets available for students, interns and
residents for quick assessment of malnutrition.
- Special counseling session for mothers of patients.
- ALL THE FEEDS ARE PREPARED IN-HOUSE BY INTERNS AND STAFF NURSE.
- NOT A SINGLE MORTALITY RECORDED IN NRC SINCE ITS START AND ALL THE
PATIENTS HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED AND ARE DOING VERY WELL!!
- Patents on discharge have given encouraging and very positive feedbacks.

This unit has radiant warmers, phototherapy units, air curtains, weighing scales and
Special chairs for the mothers willing to give Kangaroo Mother Care
Human Milk Bankinaugrated in ward 29, 30 ,bySmtSupriya Tai Sule on 19 November
2013. This unit has pateuriser, deep freezer, hot air oven. The milk (approximately 1 Litre
per day) for donation being collected after screening from the NICU and HDU. The
benefeciaries being the newborns in NICU.

2) E.M.O.C.- this is a programme that endeavors to impact emergency training of the Mediacl Officers in the Emergencies in Obstretics and gyenaecology.
3) IGNOU- Indira Gandhi National Open University course( post MBBS) is being conducted
by the department. Many batches have been trained by the department.
