(16 February, 2017)
Uttar Pradesh’s growth is key for India’s prosperity.
– Shri Amit ShahHon’ble Union Home Minister, Government of India
(Groundbreaking Ceremony, Lucknow, July, 2019)
The path to becoming a $5-trillion economy passes through Uttar Pradesh, and I am sure that the State will contribute
to it by becoming a $1-trillion economy ...
These enterprises units are supplementary and complementary to large and medium scale units as
ancillaries. The MSME sector is the backbone of UP’s industrial landscape and contributes 60% to its
annual industrial output. It employs 40 million people, generating direct economic activity worth
Rs. 1.2 trillion annually.
Uttar Pradesh as an industrial and innovation hub in the country can help in the State’s quest to be
India’s first trillion-dollar State economy. Thus the road to making India a $5-trillion economy will
pass through the UP. MSME sector forms the backbone of economic progress and development of
any State because of its contribution to industrial productivity, employment generation, versatile
nature, adaptability and contribution to exports. MSME industries constitute an important
segment of the UP's economy in terms of jobs and employment generation.
