We are a group of young, enthusiastic innovators, pursuing our masters in
Mechanical Engineering .Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest
and biggest departments of the institute. The objective of the master’s program is to
transform bright students into technically skilled and industry oriented engineers
who are globally the best. Most of our students who graduate from the department
end up taking leading positions in industry, academia and government in both India
and Abroad. It provides an environment in which new ideas flourish for the welfare
and the development of the society. Various national and international collaboration
projects are being undertaken by the faculty of the department. Our department has
23 different laboratories that are well equipped with cutting-edge technology,
catering to various field of mechanical engineering.
“The post graduates from our department are ambitious and youthful group of innovative
technologists who will carve a niche for themselves in the world of technology by the virtue of
their zeal for excellence and hard work. It is an honour for us to invite the recruiting corporates
for the campus placement and we are confident that you will leave the campus equally
privileged.”

Large Eddy Simulation of Deflagration to Detonation
Transition. In gas explosions of a premixed gas mixture, the pressure increase is governed by a
complex unsteady interaction between flame propagation, turbulence and geometry.
So the transition from deflagration to detonation and flame acceleration is studied
using Large Eddy Simulation in a partially closed duct with obstacles (with different
blockage ratio and spacing).
Dust entrainment by vehicle motion Pollution due to road dust entrainment when vehicle moves is considered to be a
major part of the pollution of air in Delhi. An analysis of dust motion and it's
interaction with automobiles will be done

Air flow management and developing strategies for
energy efficient operation The primary objective is to carry out detailed 3D thermal mapping of the
institute data centre and analyzing the airflow patterns, temperature and pressure
distributions etc. with the help of relevant data collected from the data center in
order to predict the effectiveness of thermal cooling strategies employed in the
data center and in the process devise an optimum solution for its most energy-
efficient operation
