Decision made during Stormont House Agreement

Executive’s decision to reduce number of Departments from

twelve to nine

Department for Communities is one of nine Future Departments

First Minister’s speech 2nd March 2015:

Staff will follow functions

No functions are being done away with and no policies will be

terminated

OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Executive agreement to include a

comprehensive range of social policy

responsibilities including poverty within a

single Department for Communities

which brings together for the first time

the key levers for achieving real societal

change.
