How To Find The Perfect Bone Grafting Treatment
Bone Grafting is the method of bone addition to an area where it is missing. Advanced bone grafting allowsthe bone to be rebuilt. Once the jawbone has been rebuilt in the course of grafting implants can be placed.Bone graft is performed to increase the density of bone to support the teeth. The density of the bone allows
enough space for drilling a hole to implant the essential metal which holds the crown.
Over a period of time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. This often leaves
a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. In
these situations, most patients are not candidates for placement of dental implants.
We now have the ability to grow bone where needed. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants
of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance.
Mainly there are four types of Grafts:
Allograft: Allograft materials derived from cadaver bone of the same species. If for some reason you aresuitable candidate for Auto grafts, then Allograft are done. In this technique bone is harvested from other
human donors and grafted into your mouth. This type of bone harvesting has been going on for years and has
supplied bone for thousands of medical and dental procedures with no examples of transmitted disease.
Auto grafts: Autogeneous material derived from the recipient's intra-oral or extra-oral site. The autogenous
bone graft will take between three and six months to heal, during which time the body will be securing itwith a new growth of jawbone. It is harvested from either the hip or the mouth of the patient and grafted on
to the site of the implant or where the bone depth and width is very low. Good results with the best bonerejuvenation take place through this method.
Xenografts: Xenografts derived from the inorganic portion of animal bone. In this technique bone is
collected from animals. The animal bone goes through some course of action to make it well-matched for
humans and grafted onto the implant site. The cadaver bones of allografts and the animal bones of Xenografts are foreign to the patients in whom they will be used, they will rarely result in a tissue refusal
reaction. Over time your body will replace this with natural bone.
Alloplastic grafts: Alloplastic materials are exclusively derived from synthetic sources. These are man-made
bone. Static and artificial materials are used to create this artificial bone. This bone over time becomes thestructure for natural bone to build over. Sometimes the artificial absorb-able bone is a place which over time
gets absorbed and body's own natural bone replaces it.
These procedures may be performed separately or together, depending upon the individual's condition. There
are several areas of the body which are suitable for attaining bone grafts. In the maxillofacial region, bone
grafts can be taken from inside the mouth, in the area of the chin or third molar region or in the upper jaw behind the last tooth. In more extensive situations, a greater quantity of bone can be attained from the hip or
the outer aspect of the tibia at the knee.
Several bone augmentation materials are available to stimulate and encourage bone growth in areas where it
is lost as a result of pathological or physiological processes.
Bone Grafting Akron OH will help to place larger diameter implants in ideal locations that are stable and
serviceable for a long time. It also helps to establish normal volume and dimensions of bone for ideal
aesthetics, lip support and phonetics.
