It was written in 1563 and has been used through the centuries to teach new believers and established believers about God. One of the questions in the latter part of the Catechism is, “Why do we pray?” The answer to that question goes something like this: “Because prayer is an important part of the thankfulness God requires of us. God gives his grace and Holy Spirit to those who pray continually asking God for these gifts and thanking God for them.” We are entering the season of Lent, which is a season of reflection on our lives and the gift of Jesus by God for our redemption. As we approach Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, I want us to reflect on our prayer life. In worship we will focus on the prayer we speak every Sunday during worship, The Lord’s Prayer, and we will l earn what its words mean for our daily lives. DeMotte United Methodist Church Newsletter
March 2020.
The Heidelberg Catechism is an important foundational teaching document of the Reformation.
It was written in 1563 and has been used through the centuries to teach new believers and
established believers about God. One of the questions in the latter part of the Catechism is,
“Why do we pray?” The answer to that question goes something like this: “Because prayer is an
important part of the thankfulness God requires of us. God gives his grace and Holy Spirit to
those who pray continually asking God for these gifts and thanking God for them.”
We are entering the season of Lent, which is a season of reflection on our lives and the gift of
Jesus by God for our redemption. As we approach Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of
Jesus, I want us to reflect on our prayer life. In worship we will focus on the prayer we speak
every Sunday during worship, The Lord’s Prayer, and we will learn what its words mean for our
daily lives.
Looking forward to worship with you this Lent.
P.S. check out the opportunities for Dinner Church on Wednesday nights mentioned in this
newsletter as well. Come and have dinner, invite your family, friends,
and strangers to learn about our awesome God.
Shalom,
Pastor Ed.

February has been a very busy month here at the preschool. The time has really
flown by. We had an open house this month where we met many of our new
potential students!! We also celebrated Valentine's Day and had two awesome
Valentine’s parties, thanks to our amazing parent helpers!! As always we have
been working hard on our classwork. Looking forward to March, we are very
excited to go on our field trip to Fair Oaks Dairy Farm. We will be doing the cow
tour, so we will get to learn all about taking care of cows. We are also looking
forward to seeing Miss Nancy, Miss Shannon, and Pastor Ed.
Thank you, Miss Maki

Dinner Church.
In many of our homes, dinnertime has been re-envisioned as TV time. Somehow, we have lost
the power of the dinner table as a tool to shape family and society. Even as a church we have
forgotten how powerful a dinner table can be, especially when it comes to reaching unchurched
people. It is the time to remember the power of Jesus’ table. That is why we will host a series of
‘Dinner Church’ gatherings starting Wednesday February 26, 2020 for 13 weeks. Dinner
Church will start at 6 pm and go until 8 pm. It will include a meal, a presentation about our
faith, and conversation around the table. Come join us and invite a family member, friend, or
stranger.

Feb. 17th we had the first meeting for this year. There were 15
people in attendance and boy did we have fun. First we had our
general meeting then off to learn to make card's. A Big Thanks to
Elaine Tiller. Elaine supplied the materials and taught us how to
do this. The cards came out so nice. Afterwards we had dessert
then I was reminded to take pictures so sorry to those who had
left I'm bad at pictures. We are shown holding the cards Elaine
made. - Jeri, DUMC UMW President
