1. Cleanliness

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”

Personal Cleanliness is how we care for our body. This practice includes bathing, washing

our hands before and after any meal, washing clothes regularly, brushing teeth twice a day,

cutting nails and hair at regular interval, consumption of filtered or boiled water. This helps

us to prevent illness form any disease and also feel fresh to start a day,

Keeping this contemplation in mind ‘Protection From Diseases’ Activity was conducted. They

brought toothbrush, tooth paste, nail cutter, sanitizer, towel and soap from home and they

themselves demonstrated the personal hygiene in the class. It was really a very nice

Beyond Classroom

1. Stem lab Activity -2 D &3 D shapes

“Shapes aren’t a matter but their planes decide their

dimensional feature.”

A two-dimensional (2D) shape has only two measurements,

such as length and height. A square, triangle, and circle are

all examples of a 2D shape.

However, a three-dimensional (3D) shape has three

measurements, such as length, width, and height.

Students of Grade -1 used toothpick and colourful clay to

make 2D and 3Dshapes to revise the topic- shapes and

patterns. Children had hands- on experience while doing this

Stem Lab activity.

2. Visit to Butterfly Park ‘’A children’s park gives an onlooker the impression of complete and

absolute happiness prevailing in the atmosphere and environment’’.

To give the students the real feel of the atmosphere and environment a field trip was

planned to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden. The botanical garden is one where a

garden would be dedicated to a wide range of collection, display and cultivation to a wide

range of variety of plants labeled with their botanical names. Students were shown varieties

of plants in the garden that we did not even know from where to start. There were many

numbers of flowering plants in different sizes and shapes and similarly there were also

many non-flowering and ornamental plants that were displayed there. All had their botanical

names and the details of where and how they are grown, found and their usefulness.

It was just not a field trip, but also a planned integrated

lesson was all the subject activities were co -related to

each other. With English students spoke about the visit to

the park, in Math the students made Data Handling

record of various plants like shrubs, herbs, trees, etc. In

EVS students collected different types of leaves and also

drew. We were also guided by a lead who gave us lots of

information regarding the plants in the garden. The

gardens were really fast and with colorful butterfly

chairs to sit on it and have the feel of the flashy wings.

Students enjoyed their snacks, played games and also

enjoyed the garden rides. It was an exciting field

trip with full of knowledge.

‘Oh! What an integration of a varied enjoyment here’.

for the children …”

The world is changing rapidly and

technology is redefining every aspect

of life. The future will require multi-

dimensional skills in order to cater to

the new opportunities that are being

readily generated.

By integrating modern teaching

methodologies, we ensure that learning

goes beyond books and students learn

unique skills that are futuristic and make them ready to face 21st

century challenges. Young students of Grade 1 and 2 are going through the Anaerobic,

Flexibility, Explosive strength upper body, and Explosive strength lower body, Sit and Reach

BOOK BUZZ

This month also children continued reading the Library book “Annual Hair Cut Day”. In this

book Sringeri Srinivas had very long hair. Sringeri is the main character who only gets a

haircut once a year, and is having trouble finding somebody who wants to cut it. Children had

enjoyed reading the book and at last found out that who helped him for haircut. This book

is an extremely easy read with only one sentence per page which is good for children with

shorter attention spans. Even though this book is a very easy read, the reader could still

just look at the illustrations and connect them to the text which makes this book great for

younger children. Students had lot of fun while reading this book. Children enacted the

story .

Parents play the key role in child development. Along with making

the kids learn the social values and morality, the parents are

responsible for kids’ academic success too. So, they need to be

more careful in investing their time and letting children know the

importance of school. Important parenting tip would be reading

books together every day. Also encourage Daddy Time as kids with

engaged fathers do better in school, problem-solve more

successfully.

From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

Is that time of the year when everyone is concerned about the end result of the academic

year. Rigorous revisions and worksheets are conducted at school. Parents photocopy the

same for dual revision at home. Activity classes and fun time are put on the shelf. Why! Oh!

Why! We are responsible for inducing stress, fear and anxiety in our children. Please give

them a break and let them be! Our endeavor must be to check on the learning outcome

appropriate of the class and age. If the child has grasped, understood the concept and

displays a fair comprehension of the learning outcome, he / she excel in that particular class.

Let us not be marks driven at least till Grade 8. We need to change our perception of a child

with good result. It is important for us realize whether the child is ready for the next class

without attempting or solving all the Math sums, concepts of Science, battles of Social

Science and voluminous literary contents. We need to change our mindset from being

marks driven individuals to accepting our children with concept knowledge. Final

assessments are to be treated like any other assessments without making a big noise and

creating demons in the child’s mind.

My advice and request to all adults is to mentor and guide the students, do not become

obsessive about the assessments by putting sanctions on the child’s activity time and play

time. Life is a gift, let them live it right. Marks are no parameter to judge the success of the

child in the future. Encourage the child to perform to the best of his ability but do not

pressurize. Let us all create happy environment for our child where learning becomes a joy

forever.

Wishing all the students happy assessments.

Buzz……you next month
