Utilities Undergrounding Program: E-News #17del cerro - Project Block 7cc May 2012

CORRECTION NOTICESCurrently, there are 15 residences that need to make correc- tions to their services or properties in the 7CC Project Block. Most of these corrections are minor and are the responsibility ofthe property owner. Corrections need to be completed before wecan cut customers over to the new underground system. Custom-ers who are not cut-over to the new underground systemrisk loss of service when the overhead system is removed.

If you need to make a correction to your property in order to passfinal inspection, you will receive a door hanger or letter from a Cityof San Diego inspector. The door hanger and letter have a descrip-tion of the correction needed. Most of these corrections are minor. Please do not delay in contacting the inspector whose name andphone number appear on these notices, so that the problem canbe resolved.

SAFETYIf you see anyone on your property that is not visibly wearing anidentification badge, or if they are in a vehicle that is not markedwith a contractor or utility company name, please call the Informa-tion Line at (619) 533-3841 or the San Diego Police Department. The construction crew must travel in marked vehicles and haveproper identification at all times on the jobsite.

PANEL AND TRENCHING ACTIVITIESPanel work by Southern Contracting began in September 2010.Panel work is when electricians prepare the electrical panel at yourhome to receive underground service. Approximately two weeksprior to any work being performed on your property, you shouldreceive a door hanger with the electrical contractor’s name andphone number on it. If you have any questions or concerns aboutthe work, please do not hesitate to contact the electrical contractor. To date, approximately 98% of the paneling work has beencompleted.

Trench work is 100% complete in Project Block 7CC.

CABLING, CUT-OVER AND OVERHEAD LINE REMOVALAfter all trenching operations have been completed by our contrac-tor, the cabling portion of the work will begin. Another contractorwill perform the cabling work. Cabling involves technicians placingnew utility lines in the new conduits, so that the new lines can be“energized” and brought into service. Once the new system hasbeen energized, the process to “cut-over” customers from overheadto underground services will begin. Once customers have beencut-over, the overhead lines will be removed. We anticipate thisprocess will move very swiftly and it’s not nearly as disruptive ordistracting as the trenching work, which is why you may not evensee us working.

Cox Communications is 100% complete with their cablingand 95% complete with their cut-over activities.

Construction crew members install utility cabling.
