    Synopsis of the play

From first glance, the Norman family is your perfect, squeaky-clean family.

A father who works hard as a manager in a recruitment company, a mother who dotes on

her children, an eldest son who is forging a career for himself in the outside world, asister who has just graduated from university, and an intelligent youngest son who is quiet

    and unassuming, yet highly intelligent.

But what happens when that happy family facade !reaks down" As the jigsaw pu##les

start to fall out of their ill-fitted places, thats when the ugly cracks !egin to show. $tress,

depression, dirty secrets...nothing stays hidden forever.

%his play aims to e&plore the value of family and human relationships. 'hat !ounds

people together in a family institution" (ow much do we know a!out the people that we

call father, mother, !rother and sister" )oes personal fulfillment weigh more than !lood

ties" And what happens to a human !eing in their darkest and most desperate moments"

As modern technology speeds ahead, human nature and values struggle to keep up.*omparing the lifestyles of people + years ago and now, our world has changed vastly

enough to influence even the most principle social circle in life for every individual and

that is the family. 'e find that the roles of people in a family no longer hold the samegravity as it did in the past, and as a result more and more dysfunctional family

    institutions start to pop up.

%aking a cue from the goldfish in the !owl, we hope to !ring a slice of life from amodern dysfunctional family and present their pro!lems and issues as food for thought to

the audience. $ome of these issues may !e sensitive, !ut they are matters that are not to!e ignored.

A typical family dinner. This is the 1orman family, and tonight they are gathered for aspecial reunion dinner since the eldest son, Aidil, has just returned from 2nited 3ingdom

after working as an accountant in a large business firm for six years. Although it is

supposed to be a happy scene, the atmosphere seems awkward and tensed as no one istalking and everyone seems to be preoccupied with something. The father, +r. 1orman, is

sitting at the head of the table, flipping through a newspaper and frowning. The eldest

son, Aidil, seems to be hard at work on his laptop. The sister, 4man, is chatting withsomebody on the phone, while the youngest, 5itri, is sitting at the table observing his

family members. There is a large textbook in front of him, but instead of reading it he

glances at each of his family members with an expression of contempt. +rs. 1orman aka

Hana approaches the table. She picks up the white plates and serves them to each familymember, starting from +r. 1orman, Aidil, 4man, 5itri, and finally herself.
