DEG: TWO DRYERS IN ONE,
HIGHEST ENERGY SAVINGS
AND MAXIMUM RELIABILITY
Consistent Dewpoints – Even at low air flows
Unlike a centrifugal separator that requires a minimum air velocity to insure droplet separation, DEG’s stainless steel demister separator efficiently removes condensed moisture even at low and medium air flows.
User & Environmentally Friendly
Simple ON-OFF control of the refrigeration system and easy to use controls make the DEG dryer user friendly. Non-ozone-depleting R-134a refrigerant, non-toxic silica mass and no risk of cross-contamination between the refrigerant and air circuits make environmental impact a non-issue.
Large Capacity – Small Footprint
DEG features the most compact thermal storage unit on the market. The extended surface heat exchanger with precooler/reheater (DEG0030 and larger) increases efficiency, whilst the special insulation reduces off cycle heat gains.
Zero-Loss Drain – More energy savings
The intelligent, zero-loss drain (standard from DEG0200, optional for smaller models) uses capacitive sensors to discharge only when condensate is present. This feature increases the dryer’s ability to save energy by eliminating compressed air losses.
The patented Global Transfer System (GTS) technology of MTA’s DEG line of refrigeration compressed air dryers offers 2 dryers in 1, with the dual advantages of direct expansion cooling at full load AND energy-saving thermal storage operation at part load conditions.
Unlike liquid-based cycling dryers, the GTS dry mass requires no energy consuming circulation pump, so part load energy savings are maximized.
GTS allows the use of uncomplicated refrigeration and control systems, ensuring highest reliability and ease of use.
DEG automatically responds to changes in load, always providing maximum performance with minimum energy usage, without the need for any operator adjustments.
DEG: 2 dryers in 1, twice the benefits.
Reduced and simplified servicing
Hinged, tilt-down control panel doors (DEG0250 and larger) allow easy access to all electrical components. All models feature interlocking, non-structural panels that are easily removed for complete internal access. The GTS technology reduces the number of parts requiring servicing.
Guaranteed operation in all conditions
DEG allows operation up to 158°F* inlet, 115°F* ambient, and 232 psig working pressure. Together with a top mounted condenser (for reduced fouling) and the simplified refrigeration circuit, this ensures DEG operates faultlessly in all conditions.(* values for DEG 1600-2000 differ)
Standard controls carefully designed to match the application
The EasyCard controller is specially designed for the smaller dryers (DEG0020 through DEG0200) to deliver key operating information and to provide the required functionality without over complication. The EasyCard offers the following features:
• User-adjustable dewpoint control;• User-adjustable condensate drain control (either time-based or for zero-loss drain operation);• LED (green) indication of power on and of the energy saving operating mode;• LED (red) indication of high dewpoint and control board or sensor failures;• Manual drain test button;• Programmable alarms and set points.
The Total Dry Control (TDC) controller is a state-of-the-art, microprocessor-based user interface designed to provide all of the features needed to allow effortless operation on the larger DEG models (DEG0250 and above). The TDC controller offers the following features:
• Menu-driven programming capability with password protection for easy parameter adjustment and security;• Digital display of both dewpoint and air entering temperatures for quick verification of performance;• Icon display of compressor operation and alarm conditions;• Coded alarm displays and an alarm history function that makes troubleshooting easy;• Dry contact for remote alarm signaling;• Digital input for remote on/off control;• Serial port for connection of the dryer to a remote monitoring system (RS485/MODBUS).

(2) Absorbed power at rated operating conditions and at 115/1/60 or 460/3/60 power supply.(3) Dimensions and weights refer to dryer with timed drain (values differ for zero loss drain). • Available on request.
Maximum ambient temperature: 115°F (DEG 0020 - DEG 1220); 110°F (DEG 1600 - 2000). Minimum ambient temperature: 41°F. Maximum air pressure: 232 psig. Maximum inlet temperature: 158°F (DEG 0020 - 1220); 149°F (DEG 1600 ÷ DEG 2000). For applications with higher ambient or inlet temperatures, or higher pressures, please contact our sales offices.

• Unparalleled energy savings – GTS continuously matches dryer capacity to the load, providing energy savings of up to 80% in typical operating conditions.• Simple & reliable – like a household refrigerator, the GTS uses an uncomplicated cooling circuit that is time-tested to provide trouble-free operation.• Constant dewpoint – sudden load variations are easily smoothed out by the thermal storage of the GTS.• Quick startup – with GTS there is no need to wait for a “cool down” period before applying load.• Continuous operation – once your DEG dryer is started, there is no need to turn it off – the GTS will continuously monitor the load and perform accordingly, with no energy consuming pump.• Long service life – without the need for a hot gas bypass to control its capacity, the refrigerant compressor runs cooler and less often, thereby extending the service life of your DEG dryer.
silica mass
compressed air
refrigerant
exchange through fins
exchange through fins and mass
exchange through mass
The unique GTS exchanger's compressed air tubes and refrigerant tubes are encased in a bed of silica mass. Aluminium fins connect the air and refrigerant tubes together.Consequently heat transfers from the compressed air to the refrigerant both directly through the fins, and indirectly through the silica.
Full Load (maximum operating conditions)
The compressed air is cooled directly through the aluminum fins. In this condition, since heat does not have to travel through the mass, efficiency is maximized. The silica actually provides insulation from ambient heat gain.
Partial Load (typical conditions)
Since the refrigeration capacity is greater than the load, the excess capacity cools the silica mass. The compressed air is then cooled by the mass, allowing simple compressor cycling to closely match the load.
Zero Load (stand-by conditions)
Since there is no compressed air load, the dryer’s refrigeration system only operates to maintain the thermal mass at design temperature. The result is automatic capacity turn-down with immediate restart capability.

GTS Provides Savings in Two Ways:
• Seasonal Savings – dryers must be selected to meet the most demanding loads, but most of the time the actual load is much lower. By matching dryer capacity to the actual load, DEG can reduce energy usage by an average of 27%.• Operational Savings – no compressed air system operates at full capacity all of the time; DEG's energy consumption is automatically and reliably reduced in all partial load conditions.
