For essentially all minorities in America the road to equity and assimilation has not been an easy one. Yet the more blacks have traveled and accomplished the easier our roads have gotten. However, this fact does not give consent to ignore the fact that times were and still are hard for minorities. With that being said, a lot can be asked of what did it mean and what does it mean to be a black student and faculty member at the predominantly white Pepperdine University.Welcoming Atmosphere

Pepperdine is amazingly beautiful and after watching a video like this anyone would be crazy to not want to go here!Black Students who decide to come to Pepperdine are likely to face situations like the one above. Where he or she is the only black student in class.

As of now there Alpha Kappa Alpha is the only one out of the 9 black incorporated Greek Organizations to be established on Pepperdines campus.BSA is the central association for black students to express themselves and get to know others of color on campus as the association provides many outlets for black students to do so. In the past two decades, Pepperdinesundergraduatepopulation has seen a significant increase in the number of students from a racial minority. In 1990, for example, black students comprised only 2.6 percent of the Seaver studentbody.
