Assumptions by show of hands• Online education works. (Cloud LearningTM)

• Hybrid education works. (Cloud and Ground LearningTM)

• You can do things in the cloud that you can’t do on the ground.

• Writing facilitates deep learning in any course.

• Student don’t do enough writing in law school.

• Well-crafted peer review is valuable for students who review and for students who are reviewed.

• Math is true whether you understand it or not.

Peerceptiv• Research-validated statistically reliable peer review platform

• Process• Authors upload a document anonymously.

• Reviewers evaluate four peers’ submissions using a provided rubric on which they are trained.

• Authors evaluate their reviews for helpfulness.

• Grade (variable percentages)• Writing grade (Norton set 20-30%)

• Reviewing grade (Norton set 50-60%)

• Task grade

Peerceptiv in Cloud/Ground Courses

• Works in all three (cloud, ground, cloud/ground)

• Takes peer review out of the classroom, where time is limited.

• Allows students to complete an assignment that requires several steps close in time.

• Gives students feedback between class meetings.

• Can be administered as a blended assessment or a single-location assessment (training on the ground or in the cloud).

Student experience on the ground

• Introduce Peerceptiv and get buy-in.

• Do a Peerceptiv demo.

• Go through the assignment with them.

• Give them a sample assignment with sample good/bad reviews.

Results after two years (anecdotal)

• Students’ skills are comparable between FTD and Flex.

• Students’ skills exceed FTD students without Peerceptiv.

• Student resistance falls away after the first couple of assignments.

• You get better mileage with multiple professor use.
