SBSPGI - The scholarly arena came into existence in 1994 under the direction of Gaurav Bharti Shiksha Sansthan, a registered educational society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860. Commencing with 8 students in Department of Pharmacy in 1994, SBSPGI has garnered its way to more than 80,000 qauality students in eight embellished departments namely Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, and Medical Lab Technology.

It is one of the leading self financed Institute in the field of biomedical sciences in the region. The Institute has ample opportunities for the students to grasp, assert and emerge with added strength and vision to lead the world. Therefore, the Institute has built up the foundation of each department with experienced and subject matter specialists, who come from different reputed universities and research institutions from all over India, including IIT Roorkee, BIT, JNU, BHU, DU, GBPAUT, ICFRE, AMU, CIMAP, Manipal etc.

Describing S. Gurcharan Singh as a mere founder of SBSPGI would be to ignore his fine personality. He had a brilliant pair of eyes and two hard lines on his forehead, signs of a master planner, which he was till the last day of his life. His achievements in the twin worlds of social development and education are perhaps unsurpassed in recent local history.

S. Gurcharan Singh gave up his profession as a lawyer to serve in the wider fields of social development and education.

Programmes Offered

The Institute has 71 full time nationally acclaimed teaching faculties including 30 PhDs to shape the career of the students. The Institute maintains high teacher student ratio being 1:10 in PG courses & 1:15 in UG courses.The faculty includes recognized scholars with degrees from the most prestigious universities in India. Faculties of all the departments are highly qualified and experienced, who are actively involved in research and have published more than 400 research papers in various National & International Journals of repute. Also about 500 presentations have been made along with acting as resource person in various National & International conferences.

Faculty

The Institute is aggressively involved in providing a platform for research in various fields of biomedical sciences. A large number of scholars are pursuing doctoral research on projects sponsored by the Institute as well as various funding agencies. The outcomes of these research activities are being published in national & international journals and presented in national & international conferences by faculty members and students The Institutional Research Development Council is also constituted with the aim of facilitating delivery of resources and monitoring the progress and supervision of research.

The Institute insists and encourages PhD programmes in all the departments. The primary objective of Doctoral Programme is to ensure that the faculty and students get an opportunity to upgrade their academic qualifications by research in their areas of expertise. The PhD work is closely supervised by doctorate faculty who are dedicated to research at the frontiers of their fields. Presently 12 candidates are registered in various prestigious universities of India - Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun; HNB Garhwal (Central) University, Srinagar; Gautam Budh Technical University, Noida; Jodhpur National University, Jodhpur; Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi; Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, etc. 13 candidates have been awarded & seven have submitted their PhD thesis so far.

Doctoral Programmes

It is one of the oldest department in Uttarakhand region, started in 1994. It was a pioneer among all pharmacy institutions in Uttarakhand region. The course was backed by mission of adopting 'UPNISHAD' principles of person to person teaching which is the most effective way in course of developing a perfect disciple.

The mode of teaching is applying thoughts and principles in day to day work which is an example of effective time management while learning in light environment and practising in laboratories.

Institution is running B.Pharm and M.Pharm (Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology & Toxicology) courses which are approved by AICTE, PCI and affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University.

Chemistry is a fundamental Science and has contributed immensely to the improvement of human life on this planet. SBS holds privilage of having introduced M. Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Northern India in 1997. The department feels privilaged to announce the extension by introducing M.Sc Chemistry program affiliated to HNBGU.

The Department of Chemistry is proud of having a team of well qualified faculty members with Doctorate Degree from various reputed universities / Institutes. The Department has been a centre for excellence due to its high placement record & inventory presence in the field of research and publications.

The department also runs Ph.D program where many students have obtained/registered for Ph.D Degree from various universities like HNBGU, BIT MESRA, Ranchi, National University of Jodhpur & UTU etc. To its credit, department has got projects sanctioned from agencies like NMPB, UCOST & DSIR of 22 Lakh worth & have been successfully accomplished.

Department has a good track of publications in various National & International journals of repute.

Our students possesses a good theoretical background of various concepts such as Organic Synthesis, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical and Bioanalysis etc.

· Programme is of four semesters & the course is designed to cater the needs of pharmaceutical industries.

· The syllabus has four theory and two laboratory courses in three semesters and a project in fourth semester. This course makes students to learn basic analytical techniques, technical inputs of the instruments, their application and usage in the pharmaceutical industries for drug assays, leading to Quality control of the drugs. Therefore emphasis is given on lab courses.

· Instrumental analysis lab is in all semesters making students well versed with all know-hows before they enter the industry.

· Course also trains them to get thorough knowledge related to drugs i.e different dosage forms (tablets , suspensions. Capsule etc), basic pharmacology, medicinal chemistry and drug design.

· Basic techniques involved in synthesis of drugs, purification and spectral analysis are also taught so that research and development in the field of medicines also becomes area of their absorption in various R&D organisations and industries.

· Emphasis is also laid on small projects so that one gets trained to handle experimental technique independently.

· Students get absorbed as QC/ QA chemists and R&D scientists.

Students also go for industrial tour as a part of the curriculum.

inorganic, physical chemistry and basic analytical techniques in the first year with specializations in organic and analytical chemistry in second year.

· Basic techniques involved in synthesis of drugs, purification and spectral analysis are also taught so that research and development in the field of medicines also becomes area of their absorption in various R&D organizations and industries.

· Thorough knowledge of bio-organic molecules is also imparted to the students leading them to show their expertise in development of plant based drugs.

· Also a complete knowledge in the field of metal extraction and processing is covered so as to get them absorbed in metallurgical and mineral industries.

· Thorough inputs in the field of group theory and spectroscopy making students well aware with analytical techniques required for the industries and make their absorption as quality control /quality assurance chemist in various industries.

Students get absorbed scientists in various R & D organizations, as faculty in Academics and in wide range of Industries like pharmaceutical, bulk chemicals, mineral industry, oil and Paints etc.

The development in Chemistry over the last few decades has been phenomenal because of

rediscovery of importance of Chemistry in virtually all walks

of life. This has resulted in increase

in demand of qualified and hardworking chemists in

almost all industries like bulk chemicals, pharmaceutical,

glass, oil and paints, minerals, cement, herbal

The Department was established in the year 2001. The structure and objective envisaged for the Department represent a departure from the scholastic oriented education to function primarily as an instrument of development by integrating research and teaching.

S.B.S.P.G.I was the first to offer bachelor of physiotherapy program in the region in the year 1996 under the affiliation of HNB Garhwal University. Masters programme was started in the year 2002 owing to the need of speciality education with specialization in musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders and sports medicine under the same university.The Department is pillared by extremely dynamic post graduate faculty members who are engaged in conducting regular scheduled curricular classes involving theory, practical exposure, evidence based practice and research work. The Institute has witnessed successful completion of 15 Bachelor in Physiotherapy batches and 8 Master in Physiotherapy batches.65% of our students are successfully placed in the nation and abroad and the rest are pursuing higher education. Every year approximately 45% students move abroad and are successfully placed in countries like USA, England, Australia, New Zealand, Ire land and Gulf Nations. Healthcare & Research CenterFor the academic excellence of the students and for the treatment of needy persons the Institute runs Physiotherapy Out Patients Department and Pathology Research Centre “Prayas” in Dehradun city.The Institute also arranges free medical health camp in different locations in and around Dehradun. The OPD's have an average turnout of 250 - 300 patients giving the students hands-on experience for treatment of patients.

The Training & Placement cell handles all aspects of campus recruitment for graduate & post graduate students from all disciplines.The office has excellent facilities and infrastructure. The placement cell coordinates with recruiting companies and handles the entire placement process.

What we offer to Our Recruiters – Infrastructure�Rooms with LCD projectors can be provided for induction.�Cabin/Rooms can be provided for conducting aptitude tests, group

discussions and interview.�A team of dedicated placement committee members to take care of

logistics and all other related issues regarding campus placement, on-campus.

Facility of Pool Campus�Along with the students of our institute, we can also invite students from

other Institutes for campus recruitment.�Local Publicity – We can arrange for local publicity through media and
