We, the undersigned nurses of Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC), believe in our hospital’s values of integrity, innovation, compassion, celebration and teamwork. We support Willamette Valley’s mission statement of “You matter. Amazing care every time,” and we believe we can only uphold these values through the forming of our union. We are deeply committed to building a workplace where the highest priorities are: • Providing quality patient care with enough support and appropriate tools and technology to focus on safety for everyone; and • Ensuring that all staff nurses are represented, treated fairly, and have access to due process; • Nurse input in decision-making that fosters transparency and affects delivery of care and working conditions. Unfortunately, we have seen and experienced many decisions and actions over the years at WVMC that are contrary to these values and priorities. We have seen instability in high management turnover and constant change in hospital ownership resulting in a loss of resources and dedicated staff. Despite these turbulent conditions, nurses have been expected to keep our hospital running smoothly. To ensure these priorities are realized and values are upheld, we must join with over 15,000 ONA-represented nurses at hospitals across the state with contracts that establish a voice for nurses, due process and transparency. As nurses united together, we commit to continue to support WVMC in achieving the highest standards of care for our community. Respectfully, Willamette Valley Medical Center Nurses DECLARATION
