With Christmas right around the corner, here are a few thoughts about some different gift-giving ideas that perhaps you haven’t considered.
First and foremost, an Elks calendar is the perfect fit to stretch out the largest stocking! Pick up as many as you need from the lounge at the Lodge for a mere $13 apiece.
Next, many of us enjoy a holiday ham at Christmas dinner. This year the Lodge will having a fund raiser through Dearborn Brands just before Christmas, so please consider ordering your ham through the Lodge. Whether that means getting more involved with committees, volunteer-ing to help for free at Bingo, the Hoop Shoot, or helping set up the rooms for the next event, the Lodge is run by volunteers and NEEDS YOUR HELP in order to continue.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Season’s Greetings from your Esteemed Knights
Members all, everyone appears to be enjoying the din-ners and events that we are having at the lounge and we are interested in adding some additional events during the holidays. Watch your Bugle Blasts (e-mails) for an-nouncements regarding a members’ luncheon on Christ-mas Eve and a News Years party. We have lots of new
energy going on at the lodge and we are very thankful for all of our devoted volunteers. We don’t know where we would be today if we hadn’t had Linda Szaal step in as interim office manager this fall. Now we have Gary Rushford and Bill Calabrese holding down the fort and helping the lodge on its new path to success. We cannot thank all of our volunteers enough for their devotion and commitment to our Lodge. Ernie & Karl
Our November Tamale dinner was yet another success. The Tamales were fantastic and everyone had a great time with another sold-out crowd to boot. A special thanks to Leroy for coordi-nating food and volunteers and to the Scouts of Troop 732 who showed up in force to serve food, bus tables and do the dishes! Leroy’s next dinner will be an Italian theme on January 24th. Look for the sign-up sheet on the activities bulletin board outside the lounge soon.
Lodge Decorations
A great big Thanks to everyone that came out and help decorate the Lodge for the Holidays. Come on down and check it out!!! Dear Fellow 50 Uppers,
During our November meeting we final-ized plans for our annual Christmas Par-ty which will be Thursday December 13th at 5:00 pm. The Menu will be: Hors d’oeuvres Salad Prime Rib Potatoes Vegetable Desert
Music will be furnished by the Wolver-ines. This party is a gift to our members by the 50 Uppers club — FREE TO ALL 50 UPPER MEMBERS.
The Christmas Party was always John McQuade’s special baby, so we are ded-icating this evening to his memory. Come and join us and have a great time. If you didn’t sign up yet you can call Jeannette Dougherty at 734-425-6489 to make your reservation.
I am happy to report that Lorraine Mar-tin is home now from the rehab facility. I’m sure she’d like to hear from you, so give her a call. Also remember Rose-mary Olst and Mary Cagon with a card or visit during this holiday season. December Birthdays:

Holiday Lodge Schedule
Please note that the lodge will be open for lunches December 18-21st from 11:00—3:00 pm. Please feel free to bring friends, family and co-workers in for a lunch on those days.
The Lodge will also be open on Christmas Eve for a Members Luncheon from 11:30—3:00. Please join us in the members lounge for some Yuletide food & fun!
A few of us are working on plans for a New Years Eve Party at the lodge. We are working on some ideas right now and will send out a Bugle Blast and post it at the lodge when we have more information available.
Doc’s Sports Retreat Update
Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped with our Millionaire’s Parties at Doc’s Sports Retreat! Your time donated made it a great suc-cess! Through an arrangement with a group called Aim High Proceeds that runs the poker room, we provided the licenses and they provided everything else, including the gamblers! Our part was basically to use our Charity party licenses at their venue and to handle the money, which involved trading poker chips for cash. It was easy work and turned out to be a great fund raiser for our Lodge. Come to our next Lodge meeting for a summary of how well we did.
Sincerely, Greg Ross Trustee, Event chair
Thank You
I would like to thank everyone that do-nated candy and time to make the Pumpkin Patch a huge success. With your generosity we were able to enter-tain 50 special needs children and their families. The kitchen help was great and the food service was excellent. Sully our DJ was wonderful. Just the right kind of music for the kids to dance to.
We have a table of books set up in the Lodge for anyone to take for a dona-tion. This is how we raise money to spend on the Pumpkin Patch Party. If you have any books that you have read and would like to donate them please bring them down to the lodge.
Thank you again,
Pumpkin Patch Committee
