"Think ahead, breed 'em Red."

Hello,We would like to welcome you to the first-ever Gill Red Angus “You Buy, We Bid”Fall Bull Sale. We’ve been having bull sales for 13 years and have been in the registered Red Angus business for 26 years. But this marks our first-ever fall bullsale. We switched the sale to the fall because we changed our calving season toMay and June. We now offer mainly 18-month-old virgin bulls that have been raisedon grass in the pasture, not in the feedlot. These bulls will be able to service more cows than a typical

yearling and will hold up much better too.Wow, what a fun time to be selling calves and yearlings! The prices this fall have been crazy, but

well-deserved. We are hearing reports that most people are getting from $20 to $50 a head more

than last year. A lot of our customers are taking $800 a head home, right off the cow! There is a huge

demand for Red Angus heifer calves too. Most of our customers that have a group of red-hided

replacement heifers are getting more for them than for their steers. That’s a great reason to use

more Red Angus bulls. As we have promised to you in our ads, catalog, on the phone and on the website, we have been

bidding on your calves at the barns, on the phone with Superior, and at your ranch this fall. These

efforts have made a huge impact on the prices that our customers are receiving. Just take a look at

this. We have bid cattle up as much as $5 per hundred weight on a load of 600-lb. steers. This is an

extra $30 per head, or an extra $2,500 per load. That is almost a free bull, considering our prices this

past spring. Yes, the prices are outstanding again this fall, but won’t it be nice to have a guaranteed

bidder sitting in the stands on sale day when this super price does start to go down. We don’t just bid.

We have bought a good portion of the calves that we bid on this fall. The number of calves that we

have purchased is fast approaching 1,000 head. Now that the word is out that we are bidding on our customers' calves, we are getting calls from small

feeders that are looking for Red Angus calves to feed. These feedlots really like to feed Red Angus

and Red Angus-cross calves because they are consistent and perform so well. They now know that

the red hides are just as good, if not better, than the black-hided calves. In fact, Samson-Inc. made the

most money the whole year on a set of Red Angus-cross calves. We are hearing this more and more

each year.We are also starting to offer Red Angus replacement females in our sale. This will be the first of many

years that we will be selling commercial females. Our plan is to offer more and more every year, with

all of them coming from either our herd or our customers’ herds. In this sale, we will have 57 bred

heifers and 15 open heifers. This is a powerful set of bred heifers. And I know you will really like

them. The bred heifers will come off the pastures the day before and be penned for the sale. The bulls are again a great set. They are stacked full of performance, maternal and calving ease. We

do have several heifer bulls as well as many more performance-type bulls. Most of the bulls are off of

the first- and second-calf heifers and a few older cows. The genetics are fresh and some of the best

in the country. All of the bulls and heifers are cake broke, and we started to feed the bulls a little while

still on grass around November 1. But don't expect to see bulls in the typical selling condition you

usually see in the spring, because we didn't pump a lot of feed into them. They are in the ideal

condition that we think bulls of this age should have to have the production and longevity that our

customers' need.So with this marking our first-ever “You Buy, We Bid” Fall Bull Sale, we would personally like to invite

you to come out on December 7. Have a look, a good visit, and if nothing else, come and have a hot

bowl of chili and just enjoy a day off in western South Dakota. Thanks and we will see you on Dec. 7.The Gills

The Gill Red Angus pledgeto our commercial customers -

“YOU BUY OUR BULLS.WE WILL BID ON YOUR CALVES.”

We traveled the countrythis fall and bid on several thousand head

of feeder calves. The quality of the Gill RedAngus-sired calves came shining through

as they either topped the marketor came in a close second.

We are starting off the first-ever Gill Red Angus Fall Bull Sale with a very impressive-looking bull that has everything going for him. He is big and stout, thick and long, and hasthat great bull look to him. He is a son of LMG Gills Monument 1504, our high-selling bullin 2003. Monument 1504 has thrown some great sons and daughters that have a lot ofmuscle and length. In fact on average, he throws the longest bodied calves of all of thesires used the last few years. Look to this guy to add the extra performance needed tomeet the industry's demands. Pen: By Sale Barn

This is quite the bull. 7014 is one of the thickest bulls in the sale and always has a lot offlesh on him. We didn’t feed these bulls like most bulls are fed out. They were summeredon grass and wintered like a replacement heifer. But he has always had a coat of flesh onhim. That tells me that his daughters are going tobe very easy fleshing. 7014 is extra long and verythick with a lot of style and body. He has been afavorite here all summer, and by the pictures youcan tell why. He is a son of Feddes Grand 224,who is a son of the $50,000 Grand Canyon. He isone of the more maternal sires in the breed andyet is full of performance — something that doesn’tusually go together. Grand Canyon is a maternalbrother to the all-time, high-selling Red Angus bull, the $220,000 Major League, and just recently an-other maternal sister sold for $62,000 at the NILE.On the bottom half of this pedigree you will find avery heavily bred Chief line cow. As you can tell, this is a very sought-after pedigree. This is the typeof bull that will put you in the next league. Comeand take this big boy home. Retaining one-quar-ter semen interest. Wow! He's a direct son of the $8,750 cow we sold at the Santa Sale in 2004 as the "Pickof the Herd." Nothing held back. The buyers came to the ranch and went through the cowherd with a fine tooth comb, and they chose this cow. It wasn’t a surprise to me because it

was the cow I would have chosen too. Study her picture andtake a look at her awesome profile and udder. She is abso-lutely beautiful. Her daughters, dam, grandam, great-grandamand herself all have MPPAs of 101 or higher. This is definitelythe line you want to keep daughters out of. Now, his sire is thegreat performance sire, VGW Rattler 908. He is a bull we havebeen using for several years, and he has never let us down.He always throws a lot of muscle, length and style. This crossis destined for great things. We have sent Rattler offspring allover the country and have heard nothing but good things. Heworks, and this guy will work for you even better. 4528 is re-ally long, very thick and has more middle than any other Rat-tler bull we have raised. He gets that from his dam. He has areally straight top line and will sire some outstanding sonsand daughters. So come to the sale on Dec. 7 and take thisguy home. You will never regret it. Retaining one-quartersemen interest. Last spring we sold our first Heavens Door sons. We were a little worried going into thesale because they were a little different style than we have ever had before. They werepacked full of meat, muscle and length, in a Frame 6 package. We really liked them butdidn’t know how you would. But I guess you did, because they were the overall highestselling group of bulls we have ever sold. This guy is just like the rest of them — very thick, deep and long. His dam is an outstanding cow with a MPPA of 104. You will want to keepthe daughters out of this guy, as his daughters will be easy-keeping, high-performing andheavy-milking. His sire, Heavens Door, is a son of a Canyon daughter that is a maternalbrother is King Rob. She is one of the best-looking Red Angus cows I have seen. This iswhere he gets the extra depth of rib, because she is extremely deep and very thick with asuper udder. You will like this guy. Oh, yeah how about that weaning weight! Pen: By SaleBarn

Okay, here is the longest bull in the sale. I am not sure if we have ever raised one this longbefore. He isn’t just a rope either. He has enough middle and muscle to go with it to makehim a great bull. His sire is a son of the great Rambo 502 and the $50,000 Flo-Marie 185.This cross has proven to be a very high-maternal line for us. His dam is a daughter of RunCloud 525. His daughters have had the high-selling lot in the last five sales we have had.Run Cloud's total maternal EPD is now 45, and it is the real deal. He is the highest mater-nal bull we have ever owned. His daughters are all outstanding. We only have nine strawsof semen left on him. We are using it to flush our best cows to hopefully get as manyembryos and daughters as we can. Make sure you check this guy out on sale day. He isgood! Oh ya, he ratioed 165 for marbling and 103 for ribeye! Not only is he stacked full ofmaternal and performance, but he has it in his carcass too. Pen: By Sale Barn

Here is another grandson of Run Cloud 525. He just doesn't quit. Year after year the RunCloud daughters continue to do it. But to top it off, his dam is double bred to Run Cloud525 and has a MPPA of 102. He has the maternal power you need. He is also a son ofVGW Chateau 128, who has really given us some growth, muscle and body. 4602’s daugh-ters are going to be fancy and will produce the kind of calves that will make you money. Heis really thick, long made, and easy fleshing. He has the natural thickness you are alllooking for. Now to go the extra mile, 4602 has a 122 ratio for marbling and 110 ratio forribeye. Okay, we are starting this pen of fall-born ET bulls with a couple of studs. These two fullbrothers are sons of our 2000 high-selling bull for $6,000 to Rock Creek and DoubleDiamond. He was one of the flashiest bulls we have ever raised — full of performance, thick, extra long and out of a great cow. The dam to these two is a super donor cow weraised and out of our "king of the cows" sire, Hammel Run Cloud 525. His daughters havealways shined and have been at the top of our herd for several years now. They haveraised the high-selling lot for us five years running. Just to name a few, they have raised aMonu 4X son that topped our 2003 bull sale for $4,500, a Rattler son in 2004 for $6,500,

a Rattler open heifer in the Santa Sale for $4,000, a KingRob bred heifer for $5,000, and this spring a Wide Spreadson for $9,000. These guys will be on this list after thissale. They have a lot of style, growth, muscle and length, while being out of a super cow. Don’t be fooled becausewe don’t have any pictures of them. You really need tosit up and take a look at these guys. They are very, verygood! Come and take a look on Dec. 7, 2005. Retainingone-quarter semen interest. Pen No.: 102

The next 10 lots were all born in August 2004 and will bearound 16 months old. They are all ET calves and wereraised on some commercial cows in North Dakota. Soremember, if the birth weight seems a little big or theweaning weight a little light, don’t put all the blame on thebull calf himself, because they were raised by a cow that isnot Red Angus and was wintered and summered differ-ently than we do. This is why the Red Angus Associationwill never ratio an embryo calf. They are all in a singlecontemporary group. Their true test has been on grass thissummer, and they came shining through. They are all outof some of our very best genetics. We are proud to offerthem to you, and I think you will be impressed by them.We will run all sets of brothers in the ring at the sametime and sell in catalog order.

Three more full ET brothers that will improve anybody’s herd. The sire is a super birth toyearling spread bull, that throws a lot of musle and length. These guys are no exception. They are just like that. Really thick and extra long, while having a lot of class to go with it.Monu 4X is the sire of Gills Monument 1504, a sire to several bulls in the sale including Lot1. We have a handful of Monu 4X daughters in our herd, and they are doing a really goodjob. They all have a really good look to them with great udders. The dam to these three isone of those cows that was always in great shape. She's very thick and long made. Shewas sold to JD Red Angus in our Gill's Girls II Female Sale. This past spring we soldanother ET brother for $3,750 to Todd Biel, an excellent commercial rancher who de-mands performance and growth in his herd bulls. Okay, here are two full ET brothers that are out of one of our bestcows on the place. She is a direct Rambo 502 daughter, and everyyear she has one of the best. We sold a top son of hers a few yearsback to Kuhn’s Red Angus for $3,500, and he has used him hardever since. Her first calf sold to the Hanson Ranch in South Dakotaand Texas for $6,000. She is now in their flush program and is work-ing out great for them, raising their top bull calf this summer. This isa very high maternal cow with a lot of punch to her. We really likeher, and she is a favorite any time someone stops and looks at ourcow herd. The sire is the undisputed birth to yearling spread sire inthe breed and a popular ABS bull. He promotes calving ease with atremendous amount of growth. These two are just like that. Makesure you look for these two bulls come Dec. 7. Pen No.: 102

We saved one of the best carcass bulls for the end of the sale. First of all, he only had a75-pound birth weight, and we used his sire hard on our heifers. Then he has these greatcarcass ratios — 116 for marbling and 103 for ribeye. They will grade very high for you,and that is what makes you money when you sell in the meat. Be sure to check him out onDec. 7. Pen No.: 105

Doc's Fancy Baker "Festus"MAY 19, 2001 408192959

Calling all cowboys! My name is Festus, and I am a ranch horse deluxe that is very easyto be around and catch. I have seen and done everything there is to do on the Gill RedAngus ranch. I have tagged calves, dragged ’em to the fire, doctored them out in bigcountry, and helped gather them back in for weaning. I really enjoyed all of the sortinginvolved at AIing and weaning time. I have a lot of energy and absolutely love to get upand go in big country, but yet I can turn it down and be calm and quiet when asked. Kennysays that I am not for beginners, since I can get a little fresh once in a while. But I am tryingreally hard to get over this. He also says that I have scar on the back of my front left hoofbut it doesn’t seem to bother me. Come check me out on sale day. I think you will like me.

"Think ahead, breed 'em Red."

Several years ago we began looking for opportunities to achieve a competitive advantage

in the beef industry. To gain that advantage we needed to be a part of a coordinated system

that provides a consistent, low-cost, uniform product to the market place. This concept has

evolved into working with Gill Red Angus, which produces genetics that provide high-

growth bulls that meet premium carcass specifications. These characteristics allow us to

pass on a higher value to producers while still reducing our costs of production.Gill Red Angus has been a leader in working with us to identify producers who are buying

these bulls. When the producer markets their calves, the Gills’ have been representing us

by bidding on the cattle that will fit our objectives. Once purchased or retained, we can turn

our attention to developing the communication and information sharing programs that will

reward us from conception to consumption. Developing these programs allows us to re-

duce costs of production throughout the chain and position us to add value to our end

product. This value-added product may be as simple as a complete source-verification data

base to attacking specific beef markets with a predictable product.Even though the value-added market is the ultimate objective, reality says we have to be

successful on the production side first. Calves gaining over 3.3 pounds per day, converting

at 5.6 to 6.1 pounds of feed to pound of gain and reaching a 900-pound carcass weight is a

power offense to the challenges that are faced in the beef industry. Many calves produced

from Gill Red Angus genetics have been reaching these targets. We are excited to be a part of this growing coordinated system. The results that we are

seeing from working together give us confidence that we will all achieve our objectives. For more information please contact:Scott Mueller or Sara Hanlin24893 325th StreetPlatte Center, NE 68653402-246-2084Email: [email protected]

The Gill Red Angus Customer Marketing Program“You buy our bulls and we will bid on your calves.”

Something we offer that most of our competition does not is a Customer Buy-Back Program. Our slogan is “You buy our bulls and we will bid onyour calves.” This has really helped our customers on selling day. We ran some calves up as much as $5 per hundredweight. You add that up on aload of 600-pound steers, and you made an extra $2,500 just by being our customer. Compare that to our sale average the last couple years —that’s a free bull. How can you go wrong?

Here is how it works:First, you must be a Gill Red Angus customer. Atmarketing time, contact Gill Red Angus with themarketing option you wish to pursue:

Complete Retained OwnershipPartial/Partnership Retained OwnershipLivestock Auction or Off-the-Farm Marketing -Sell 100% of your calves off-the-farm or at thestockyards and a Gill staff member will be thereto place a bid on them for you.Replacement Heifer Marketing - Market yourtop-quality open and bred heifers through ourproduction sale in December. (We have spentthousands of dollars on advertising over theyears. Use our past advertising and knownname to market your replacement females.)Call for more inforrmation.

When possible, we will work with our customersto help form co-mingled loads of calves. To determine the value of your calves, Samson-Inc will compute the “breakevens.”Once the above is completed, the calves will beshipped to Samson-Inc Feedlot.Upon harvest, if possible, Gill Red Angus &Samson-Inc will prepare a report complete withfeedyard and harvest data for your use. TheGill staff will then schedule a meeting with youto discuss ways we can help add profit to yourbottom line.We are also available for consultationsregarding breeding, replacement heiferprocurement, and all marketing options. Wewill help you any way we can to make yourbottom dollar grow.Gill Red Angus customers can now receive a3% discount on all vet supplies purchased through DeTye Vet Supply.
