Check out Rita’s extraordinary col- lection of lighthouses and seascapes, all visited, which inspired her art. 3-DD: A 3-Dimensional December In the front gallery. Come and see the imaginative works of our sculpture and 3-D artists. Opening Reception on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 pm. This show remains in the gallery through the end of December. Small Works: The Works of our Member Artists. Come and see the wide array of work created by our member artists, smaller works that make wonderful gifts this time of year. Sizes, styles, and price ranges to suit every budget. Take home an original work of art and help support a local artist. Opening Reception on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 pm. Coming in January: The Northwest Indiana Rug Hookers. In October, this group of local photographers took part in the Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. The Times of Northwest Indiana is sponsoring a photo contest. The contest will recognize 2016 winners in the follow-ing categories: Best photo taken in the Region, best photo taken outside the Region, best Indiana bicentennial yearphoto, best Chicago Cubs victory photo, and best local sports photo. Submissions will be accepted until Dec. 10. A team of judges will choose the top five entries, and the winners will be de-termined by an online vote of the finalists. Winning photos will be published in The Times and considered for publication inthe South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority promotional materials. The SSCVA is partnering in the contest. The Indiana Arts Commission is now accepting applications for Individual Artist Program grants. The grants offeredfor this cycle are for Dance, Literary Arts, Music, and Theatre. The Individual Artist Program (IAP) provides support toartists at all stages of their career development in selected disciplines. Applicants may request a maximum of $2,000. Duneland Photography Club NewsThe Duneland Photography Club will be having aChristmas potluck at our meeting at 7:00 pm on Tues-day Dec. 6th. Members and prospective members arewelcome. We will be displaying "My Viewfinder" col-lages. For the mentoring program at 5:30, the hands-on topic will be "Aperture".The Duneland Photo Club is planning for an exhibit atRed Cup Cafe' in Chesterton in January. The themewill be winter scenes.
Art ClassesWatercolor with Dick ChurchNew session begins Friday, January 6 10 am until noon. $75/80 which includes pattern fee. 6 classes.Beginning and Intermediate. If you are a beginner, call ahead for a supply list.
Creativity & Canvas with Suzie Rosso Friday, December 3. 6:30 - 8:30. The cost to participate is $35, which includes allmaterials, as well as light snacks and beverages. Subject matter will be our statebird, the cardinal. The event size is limited, so please call to reserve a seat.
Monday Night Ceramics with Tom Cernius6 Sessions, starting on Monday January 9. 5:30-8:30 pm. Cost is $110/135 + $15 clay fee. Learnhow to throw on a wheel and hand build. Students will end up with around 5 finished pieces, glazedand fired.
Thursday Night All Media Class with Suzie RossoThursday nights from 7-9pm, Suzie instructs students working in most media--pencil & drawing, in-cluding figures; watercolor, acrylics, oil, and pastel. Her class is an opportunity to improve your skills& develop a personal artistic style, surrounded by others doing the same. Cost is $65/month (4 ses-sions) with members receiving a $5 discount.
Advanced Wire Wrapped Jewelry with Jayde PetersenSunday, December 11th 1-3 pm. Cost is $25/30, which includes materials. Join Jayde to learn Ad-vanced Wire Wrapping. (wire wrap with side bindings.)
