• In 1958, Wilson Jones became India's first individual champion in any sport when he won The World Amateur Billiards Championship.

• In 1935, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, The President, of India was born

• In 2012, on this day an Indian musician who was one of the best-known exponents of the sitar in the second half of the 20th century as well as a composer of Hindustani classical music, Pandit Ravi Shankar had passed away.
