MINISTRY ASSIGNMENT
Some Words from the Pastor: Shall we say, “Happy New Year (liturgical).
With the celebration of the First Sunday of
Advent, we start a new year in our liturgical
calendar. The Season of Advent allows us to
prepare our hearts for the coming of the
Messiah. The Ordos provides us the following remarks:
“Advent has a two-fold character, for it is a time of preparation
for the Solemnities of Christmas in which the First Coming of
the Son of God to humanity is remembered, and likewise a time
when by remembrance of this, minds and hearts are led to look
forward to Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time.”
As we prepare once again for the celebration of the birth of our
Lord Jesus Christ on Christmas Day, let us open our hearts to a
new year of grace. Let us welcome the Lord with gladness and
joy as he comes to us. The early Christians had this disposition
of hope and waiting as they cry out, “Maranatha”, which means
‘Come, Lord Jesus!
There are helps for us to prepare ourselves during this season of
Advent. The Advent Wreathe with four candles, which will be
blessed, would remind us of the four Sundays of Advent before
the celebration. Another important preparation is the
celebration of Sacrament of Reconciliation. Penance Services
are actually celebrated in all the churches in our Deanery (1).
So if you missed to go to confession on our schedule here at
Queen of Angels on December 16, you can check out the
schedules of the nearby parishes. This sacrament allows us to
experience the love and mercy of God through his forgiveness
as we allow the Lord to come to us, Or, as we come to the Lord
who continues to wait for us with open arms.
Nonetheless, let us pray, “Come Lord Jesus! As we start this
Season of Advent. Let it be time of prayer for us all
as we waiting with joy, faith and hope in our hearts.
May you have a blessed advent season.
DID YOU KNOW? Children in sports are at risk for head injuries Sports are a great way for children to burn off energy, learn
about teamwork, and stay active and healthy. But some sports
come with risks, including head injuries. Football is an
especially high-risk sport for these types of injuries, given the
nature of the game. If your child wants to play contact sports,
make sure he or she does so safely. Provide proper safety
equipment that fits. Check helmets and protective gear
periodically to ensure that all are still working. Talk to coaches
and referees about regular safety checks for fields and team
equipment as well. For more information about “Sports and Head
