Festive Tips on how to go Green this Christmas:
Avoid excessive packaging where possible. Reuse plastic shopping bags - some retailers have eco-friendly bags, made from 45% recycled material. A compost heap or bin for organic waste - and there'll be a lot - could reduce your rubbish by 20%. Conserve electricity by switching off Christmas lights when you're not at home or sleeping. Send e-cards - it reduces paper consumption - see www.cards.co.za. About 8000 to 9000 tonnes of paper will be used this Christmas - about 50 000 trees. A good tip: reuse old wrapping paper, simply sprinkle used wrapping paper with a bit of water and iron it. Be eco-friendly - be determined to go Green! See www.greenworks.co.za Tips from Caroline Jones.
ReCONNECT treasures our relationship with you. Thank you for the opportunity to be of service to you.

LEADING FROM BEHIND.....THE ART OF NETWORKINGI am sure that most of us subscribing and who reads this wonderful "reCONNECT" magazine, do it to CONNECT. The question is: "Why"? I submit that the common motive or reason is that we all believe that we have a service or product that the readers MUST HAVE. It is from that premise that we approach our potential clients. Be that readers of this magazine or otherwise.....We enter their realm or space convinced that they need what we have. In fact we even find ourselves using what is commonly known as "sales talk". The same kind of talk that annoys us when others try to sell us their services or products...Why then do we use tools or approaches that we in fact do not like? Have you noticed how that during "networking" sessions we make sure that people know about us and leave with our business cards? This proves to me that not many of us go to networking sessions with the intention or motive to help others but to see how others can help us. (To get business). I came to learn and understand that the best "Go-getter" is the "Go-giver". I suggest that at your next Networking session, go without business cards. Find someone and find out exactly who they are, what they like, what they do, about their family and how you may come alongside them to add value to their interest and goals. You'll be amazed to find how much longer the conversation lasts, how sincere it is and the great satisfaction you find in being prepared to add value to someone else and his or her business. Even greater will be your surprise when they sincerely ask you about what you do and your details without you even having said a word about it.....Offer to serve them and surely they will serve you and even tell their friends about you as you....
