WE ARE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT MS NOW

Since its charter in 1954, the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter has been in the forefront of providing programs and services for people with MS and those who care for them. We serve 15,000 clients and their families in 21 counties in southeastern Pennsylvania, southern NewJersey, and Delaware.

The National MS Society helps people affected by MS by: • Funding cutting-edge research, investing more money in MS research than any other volunteer-

driven health organization in the world

• Driving change through advocacy

• Services - Direct Financial Assistance - Our chapter is committed to helping people with MS maintain independence through emergency financial assistance, and home modifications (HomeAble program), respite care and transportation for medical appointments.

• Support Programs - MS impacts everyone in the family. The GDV Chapter offers a full slate of programs aimed at educating people about how to overcome the disease’s physical, social and financial effects, whether you are a person living with MS or a caregiver.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system. MS damages the tissues surrounding nerves, short-circuiting the nervous system and interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to paralysis.

Most people with MS are diagnosed between ages 20 and 50.

MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide & over 15,000 locally.
