May 31, 2019 Dear Parents, We have had a successful week of end-of-year testing. Thank you for sending your students to school prepared and on time each day. Thank you also to the many volunteers who proctored this week. We could not complete our testing without your help. Next week our Math 2 students will take their North Carolina Final Exam. Though most of our exams are completed, structured activities and instruction will continue all next week. It is important that our students stay in learning mode until the last day of school. We look forward to a wonderful 8th grade Promotion Ceremony on Thursday morning at Carmel Baptist Church. Congratulations to our 8th graders. Best, Lisa Bailes, Principal

Dear Parents,
We have had a successful week of end-of-year testing. Thank you for sending
your students to school prepared and on time each day. Thank you also to the

students stay in learning mode until the last day of school.
We look forward to a wonderful 8th grade Promotion Ceremony on Thursday

The end is near! Just one more week of classes and your students will be transitioning to the next grade or to high school! While the end of the school year is exciting and fun, some students are likely to feel anxious with what is to come. Leaving the teachers they know and moving on to 7th or 8th grade can be intimidating, especially if your student is overly concerned about grades. Moving onto high school is even more of a transition as it is a totally new experience in a new school.
As summer progresses, encourage your student to talk about their fears and anxieties about the new year. Remind them to practice self-care, to take a break from worrying about school, and to focus on the parts of the next year that they are excited about.
If it seems like your student’s anxiety is getting uncontrollable or unhealthy, please encourage them to talk to a professional counselor. We can help by providing names of counselors in the area.
We hope you have an amazing summer!
Mrs. Seaman would like to thank Trish Baker, Naomi McRary, and Karen Webb for helping with yearbook
distribution and sales today! A special thank you to Trish Baker for helping me throughout the year
scheduling parent volunteers for various occasions! You ROCK!
2019 "Break the Mold" yearbooks were distributed to students during
homeroom last week. For those students who did not pre-order a yearbook,
they may purchase a yearbook during their lunchtime Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday of next week for $23 cash only--no checks will be accepted. We
only have 25 left!

SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES A Partnership for Serving Children
Reminders from the school nurse….. May 10, 2019
1. IF your child had medication at school this past year please pick it up by the end of the school
year, June 7, 2019. It will be discarded after that date. It is a CMS policy that no medication can
be kept at school for the summer. All controlled substances must be picked up by the parent.
This is all ADD/ADHD medication and Diastat.
2. If you know that your student will need medication at school next year, a new medication
authorization and emergency action plan will be needed. No medication will be accepted
without the proper paper work.
3. All rising 6th graders need 2 immunizations to enter the 7th grade. TDAP , & Meningitis are
required by the state. Please bring a copy of the updated immunization record to the school after
these immunizations are received or send a copy in the fall with your student. Our exclusion date
is 30 days after school starts. At that time the student will not be allowed to return to school
until proof of the immunizations is received.
4. Should your student need to have Epi at school please make sure that it has not expired. You
can keep this at home to use if you choose, but the school needs in date medication.
Thank you.
