California 95014 May 10, 2011 California Energy Commission Dear Commissioner Boyd, The De Anza College Automotive Technology Department is one of the premier automotive training programs in the Western United States. Currently the Automotive Technology Department is partnering with the E'lectronic Transportation Development Center (ETDC) developing an alternate fuels training program for the public and private sectors. We believe that over the next several years there will be a growing demand for technicians trained in the Green Transportation/Alternate Fuels area in Silicon Valley and California. Over the last year we have developed a partnership with the ETDC and have . worked together delivering seve rail alternate fuels training classes. We support the ETDC and its goals in their effort to develop a Center for Excellence. We share the vision of the ETDC in developing jobs in Silicon Valley in the Green Transportation/Alternate Fuels area. The De Anza College Automotive Technology Department together with the ETDC will be proactive partners developing a robust Green Transportation/Alternate Fuel training program that will fill a unique training need in Silicon Valley and California. We stand as a proud partner in support of the ETDC and strongly recommend the development of the Center of Excellence for clean energy and clean transportation.
