Proposed Elevation
Lisa Allen-Urrea, Senior Vice Presidentoffice: (505) 855-7650
Originally constructed in 1939, and updated during the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, The De Anza Motor Lodge was a way station on old Route 66 during its heyday; accommodating travelers and acting as a trading post for Zuni Pueblo. The 50’s update also included a basement banquet room that now includes Zuni Shalako murals that are a cultural patrimony to Zuni Pueblo, Route 66 and the Nob Hill Neighborhood.
Redevelopment will include 30 apartments and 10 hotel rooms, a restaurant to support residents, travelers and again be a way station for Central Avenue all while retaining the murals and cultural artifacts in place; thereby refashioning the nostalgic motor lodge atmosphere and providing a truly unique destination on the heavily traveled Central Avenue.
Albuquerque Rapid Transit Project
Transit can help customers get to local businesses; expanding market area by providing more accessibility.
Increases the ability for employees to take transit to work, freeing up on-site parking space.Provides convenient access for visiting tourists to shops, restaurants and museums.
The ability to connect new housing to new jobs is critical to economic health.
Nob Hill NeighborhoodCentral Avenue, Nob Hill Main Street, has a split personality. It was, and still is Albuquerque’s original “Main Street,” like Main Streets all across the country, but its other personality is Route 66, the great Mother Road which carried countless Americans westward to California.
