The DDAwho we are & what we do
The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was created by Resolution as a dependent district of the City of Delray Beach in 1971 by the state legislature. The main areas of involvement in downtown redevelopment include: marketing and promotion of the Downtown DDA district, placemaking and economic development of the downtown businesses.
Looking ahead to 2013-14A note from the ChairmanThis has been a very exciting year for the DDA. The team has accomplished the goals set forth by the board, especially strengthening efforts this year in social media efforts. Many of these accomplishments and others are outlined in this report. We will continue to chart astonishing results as we continue to work closely with all of the businesses in our district in an effort to strengthen their visibility and their bottom line.
Many ideas are in the works for next year including a more strategic promotional effort monthly, focused on strong events such as Fashion Week and Savor the Avenue. Our support of the 100 ft Christmas Tree and First Night activities as major economic engines for our merchants and businesses will continue.
Our continued placemaking efforts of producing a Practical Guide for Merchants and Businesses, will outline the rules and regulations that affect their businesses, and in conjunction with City staff, the Downtown Roundabout Trolley Brochure, will also be produced.
We will continue to work with the City on parking plans, especially regarding employees in our district. The updated version of the Development Brochure for the DDA District will also be distributed, and the Cluster database will be improved and completed, highlighted at a Property Owners Meeting planned for fall of 2014.

PLACEMAKINGInvolvement:Strengthened Nighttime Management working with Delray Beach Police Department Clean & Safe team. The Ambassador Program was created and enhanced. A Downtown Roundabout Brochure was created and distributed, Pedestrian Surveys were completed and shared with both the City and Police Department, Employee Parking initiatives were created and presented to the City, Construction Updates sent out regularly to downtown businesses, worked on Beach Master Plan committee – pavilion reconstruction brochure created and distributed, continue working with Atlantic High School Football Team on sidewalk pressure spraying and window cleaning. Holiday twinkle lighted displays including the Beach Sphere Tree round out the activities.
