You Can Always learn from the History:

RCSe is driven from EU operators First VoLTE launch will happen in US

=> Typically some 9 months delay between regions EU and Asia

How combine and harmonise services for integration?

Differences in service

VoLTE is a fundamental service that is well suited to be integrated in modem since it needs to be highly optimized and IOTed to get the right service degree.

RCS services are an evolving set of services that operators can innovate on top of and should therefore be tightly connected to other applications in phone

RCS evolution

Joyn the first step to an interoperable service

RCS 5.0 is a superset of all services specified in earlier RCS specifications.

Operators are well known for their interoperable key services, RCS needs to be treated in the same way as sms and MMS.

Agreement on what the base features that needs to be supported together with voice, differentiation is made on top of this baseline

Basic IMS

IMS gives the operators a possibility to offer basic voice and a set of telecom services and on top of that work as enabler for 3rd party applications

Voice, video, RCS services

Authentication, IMS gives a secure authentication that can be used of 3rd party developers

QoS, IMS gives possibility to give higher service grade to preferred applications

Presence and sip options, IMS gives a framework how to know what applications your buddies have

Access independence

Beyond HD voice

VoLTE gives operators a chance to move beyond HD voice with higher quality, stereo sound and music/voice mix

Summary

operators to create the next generation SMS/MMS.

The key is for operators to build on the basic values of IMS and make sure developers can utilize these in a simple way.

The Architecture is important to make sure RCS services can be evolved in an internet manner.
