Main lessons learnt during project proposal development

• Participatory approaches help in identifying existing strengths, weaknesses/gaps, opportunities and defining roles of HI, partners and beneficiaries.

• Developing project proposal is a process that requires time for consultation with partners, target beneficiaries and stakeholders; literature review; and validation of data used in the proposal. This is important in selecting appropriate interventions and setting of realistic targets.

• Proposal development requires focused and committed leadership so as to guide and sustain momentum in delivering quality document on time.
