How is it possible a soccer player in America can
earn 250 million? It might be because of his good looks, a
famous musical wife, or an attention grabbing sense of
fashion. David Beckham has all these qualities. It is other
elements of his personality and his hard work. However
that makes him worthy to be a celebrity, followed by the
media and adored by the fans around the world.
David Robert Joseph Beckham’s early life was
centered on soccer. He was born on May 2, 1975 in
London, England. His father and mother both were avid
soccer fans, their favorite tem was Manchester united. It
was not surprising them that their son started
developing his soccer skills tournament subsequently
earned a place in a soccer academy. By the time he was
14, he had joined the Manchester United organization.
Even thought this team was located several hours away
from his home, and he had to work a part time job, he
made all the adjustments necessary through hard work.
He became a force with Manchester United, was an
instrumental in the team’s great success and earned a
place in soccer history there.
David Beckham’s achievements are many spread out
over several years. Receiving such awards as most
valuable player in the European Soccer Union (1999),
Britain’s sportsman of the year (2001), BBC Sports
Personality of the year (2001), and officer of the order of
the British Empire (2003) he has been a standout
wherever he has played. Beckham was on the English
world cup team10 years and was the captain of
Manchester united for many seasons. In 2oo3 he signed
with a team in Spain Real Madrid, and spread the fame
even farther. But he was eager to develop the image of
soccer in the United States and so in July he moved to
the U.S. to play with the LA Galaxy.
David Beckham’s accomplishments are impressive,
but what really makes him a superstar is more than his
soccer ability. It is his hard work wherever he has been
makes his worthy of being a celebrity. He has overcome
great mistakes like being ejected from a world cup game
against Argentina that that led to a loss with renewed
effort and concentration. He did this in spite of being
booed by the fans in the world cup disasters. These
qualities have enabled him to win back their hearts of
the fans. In addition, he perfected his penalty kicks to
such an extent there has been speculation that he
actually “bends” the ball. He seems aware or his own
good fortune and so has been a UNICEF (united nation
children’s fund) supporter since his early days in the
Manchester United
David Beckham has worked hard to become a
superstar that he is today. He is more a celebrity than he
deserves to be
