Carefully trim 1/2” off the root tips with pruners. 2. Soak the whole plant overnight to re-hydrate Planting 3. Choose a location that receives at least 6 hours of sun per day. 2. Amend heavy soil if necessary with peat moss and compost and water. 4. Dig a hole wide enough to easily spread the roots and at least 12” wide and 12” deep. 5. Create a small mound in the bottom of the hole. 6 . Place the rose on top of the mound and drape the roots around it. 7. Fill in the hole with soil. 8. Water. Continue to water as hydration is key to succes with roses. Summer 9. Water and remove spent blooms. After the first flush of flowers prune back the branches to the fourth leaf, to encourage repeat blooming. Fall/ Winter 10. In the fall remove the faded leaves and debris. 11. After the first frost mulch with an 8” mound of soil at the base of the rose. Spring 11. Prune out canes with winter damage. Then 1/3 of previous years growth from remaining canes. A B C D
