Numeracy Students will be commencing their next topic of Location and Mapping
Students will be beginning Location and Mapping. Students will be; • Locating objects around the room • Exploring the language of location such as ‘under’, ‘above’, ‘next to’, ‘behind’, ‘in
front of’ • Draw a picture, following instructions read out to them describing the location of
objects • Dividing a collection into a fraction
A home activity you could do with your child this week could be to get your child to set the table following instructions using the language of ‘under’, ‘above’, next to’, behind’, ‘in front of’. E.g. Put the plate on the table, put the glass in front of the plate.
Literacy Reading Writing Spelling Students will be working on a range of activities focusing on the features of a narrative text.
Reading: Students will be extending their knowledge of narrative texts, focusing on the text features of the beginning, middle and end to the story.
A home activity you could do with your child this week could be to identify the beginning, middle and end within their nightly reader.
Writing:. Students will be continuing to write narrative stories, Students will be;
• Using a rubric to orientate themselves • Using picture cues to assist their writing • Using a graphic organiser to draw their story including a beginning, middle and
end • Discussing their story with a partner and receiving feedback
A home activity you could do with your child this week could be to ask them to write a story that has a beginning, middle and end.
Spelling: Students will be demonstrating their ability to use their visual memory to write their common words. A home activity you could do to support your child’s development would be to get your child to type their common words onto the computer or write their

Foundation - Students review basic greetings using ICT and write them in hiragana. Grade 1/2 - Students use animals as a topic to play memory games using learnt phrases and responses.
Visual Arts Leah Stephens
Foundation - Students learn about Indigenous Dot Paintings. They learn to use different tools to make dots to create an artwork of a snake. Grade 1 & 2 - Students learn about stamp printing. Students learn to look for objects that can create animal footprints. They then create different footprint patterns that move across a page.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Friday 7th of September, the Ramo students will arrive in Melbourne, and will be a part of our school and local community for the entire week. The students will be participating in our classroom activities, and there will be social events that students, and families are welcome to attend outside of school hours.
We are still placing an emphasis on students who bring their notice plastic pocket and reading satchel will be rewarded with a dojo on a daily basis. In addition to these dojo’s students who bring their yellow diary on a Friday with at least three night of reading filled in will receive an extra dojo. Monday the 10th of September the students have the opportunity to participate in the Ramo hot potato cake, cold drink and chocolate. This is a fundraiser for our Ramo delegation and all monies raised support the students when they are down from Ramingining. The cost is $5 and is NOT compulsory, this is parent choice. This snack does not replace any of the other food breaks scheduled throughout your child’s school day. We have many books that need to be contacted, if you are willing to take some books home to cover please see your teacher and we will organise a pack for you. ☺ ☺ ☺

Commencing – Monday 7th September
Numeracy Students will be working on a range of activities based on their assessment data
Topic- Fractions (2nd week) Students will be:
• Solving addition and subtraction problems • Revising the strategies for working out addition and subtraction problems • Completing vertical addition and subtraction problems
Daily automaticity activities according to student’s needs related to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You can support your child at home by having them work out problems such as adding the cost of 5 items going into the shopping trolley.
Literacy Students will be working on a range of activities based on their assessment data Reading Writing Spelling
Reading: This week, students are looking at informative texts and using the synthesing strategy to build new understandings from their text and researching further information on their same topic. You can support your child at home by asking about where to find different information reports in real life. Writing: Students will be writing an information report on a topic of their choice An activity you could do at home to support your child’s learning could be to investigate something your child is interested in (not Fortnite) and discuss what information they know about that topic. Spelling: This week students will be looking at compound words ranging from simple words to words with Greek or Latin roots. An activity you could do at home to support your child’s learning could be to discuss some of the objects around the home that are compound words Eg. football.
Students will be continuing to look at how inventions have changed our lives and how technology has made our lives easier.

Topic- Problem Solving This week students are ide identifying a range of strategies and how these can be used to solve worded problems. Activities might include, worded problems, hands on problem solving tasks and computer activities. Home Activity- involve your child in a range of problem solving conversations. E.g. we are having 4 people over for dinner tonight, each person will eat 2 potatoes and 6 carrots. How many potatoes and carrots will we need to feed everyone?
Literacy Students will be working on a range of activities based on their assessment data Reading , Writing, Spelling
Reading- Students will be building on their ability to read, view and respond to literature, we will be watching Shark Tank and looking at the pros and cons of different inventions, as well as the presentation skills shown by those presenting their invention. Writing- Students will be writing a discussion text which discusses the pros and cons of an invention from shark tank. Spelling- Students will be investigating a range of nouns and pronouns and completing activities using them, such as noun Twister. Home Activity – Discuss the inventions that students have seen in Shark Tank.
Students will begin to look at next terms topic – Mini Beasts. We will be discussing and brainstorming ideas on what they would like to learn and how.
