Year 2013-2014
AMA International University-Bahrain, a leading academic
institution in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has undergone changes
to cope with the challenges for higher education in the King-dom and the region.
Through the years, AMAIUB has left no stone unturned to rise
above the global challenges responding to the academic impli-cations. As a private international university, AMAIUB pro-
vides access to quality education through its commitment to
outcome-based instruction, research and community en-gagement to produce highly skilled and capable graduates
dedicated to life-long learning responsive to the growing needs
of Bahrain and the neighboring countries. To contribute to the objectives of Bahrain Vision 2030, the
University takes cognizance of higher learning, curriculum
improvement, student skill development, curricular instructions and facility improvement to open its doors not only to Bahraini
citizens, but also to other GCC nationals who want to pursue
higher education. Responding to the global demands of ac-countability, the degree programs of the university have been
subjected to Quality Assurance Authority for Education and
Training (QAAET), an internal body tasked to elevate the stan-dard of education, monitor and review the system to quality
control especially the higher education department in the king-
dom of Bahrain, and underwent consultancy with the Accredit-ing Body for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the
European Council for Business Education (ECBE), to continu-
ally support excellence in superlative education. AMAIUB acknowledges the aid of its foremost wealth, the
human capital or knowledge assets. The institution has been
“re-missioning” its education policies and standards to answer some of the challenging realities of youth employment in the
labour market, shift in career paths and core skills.
Aware of these global challenges in higher education, AMAIUB emphasizes employability of its graduates. To
outsource probable opportunities, the University assists stu-
dents in mapping their career directions, as well as introduces them to various programmes and options available in differ-
ent establishments, links them with employers in the job mar-ket. Ergo, promotes an admirable employment climate in the
Kingdom of Bahrain. By Faten Zainal and Naeema Tareq
With global implications, strategies have been innovated to
transform oil based to knowledge based skill to support eco-
nomic growth and development. Gradually, this initiative will reduce the need for foreign skilled labor and create high-value
jobs for national talents. This will then process the integration
of international and intercultural dimension in the function and delivery of higher education to jibe with the mission of produc-
ing global citizens for global competitiveness.
In addressing these challenges, AMAIUB continues to work
and respond to the challenges in higher education, tailoring its
vision and mission to support the Kingdom’s economic and educational goals. Indeed, the University shows to the global
arena that since the world is changing, it has to move with it.
